I have my screen on the correct setting but when I try to open the editor i get a black screen and a popup windows comes up and says that this program has made an illegal action and must be closed, I hit ok and it closes the black screen.

If anyone knows how to fix this please tell.

Are you sure have the DierectX7 installed? Do you have the latest video card driver? Does your system meet all the minimum requirements?
