I think I already know that the answer to this is "no," but I'll ask anyway. Is there remove the player's weapons so that I could do a level like Area 51 on TR3, or the beginning of the Oil Rig level on TR2?

I was wondering the same thing myself, but since none of the included levels from TRLR had Lara without weapons, I must assume that it is not possible with the tools available at this time. Perhaps, in time, it will be possible (at least I hope). In the mean time, you may wish to include enemies in your levels that cannot be killed with pistols (mummies, skeletons, wraiths, beetles, etc.).
