I HAVE HAD IT WITH THE STUPID MANUEL!!!!!!!!!! I'm making my level, I make a door that needs a key to open, Lara puts the key in, I've seen her, AND THE STUPID DOOR DOESN'T OPEN!!!!!!!! I've read the manuel, I have used counless triggers, and this door won't open! What do I do???!!!! ------------------ "Seth, ruler of evil, shall again be free at the turn of the distant millenia. As he unleashes plagues and locusts, harvests fail under the broken sky. In light of this, the Sun god Horus, banished the Lord of Darkness, Seth." IP: Logged |

Have you tried to find a similar set up in the example levels? Also it is hard to help you when you don't give more specific information about what you are trying to accomplish. I know it is frustrating when things don't work.....to make a door open with a key you have to set the door trigger as a key (in the set trigger type window)...make sure you set the trigger for the door, then designate it as a key trigger. If it still doesn't work, please tell me which WAD you are using and the name of the object, then how you set up your triggers and I will try to find out what is going wrong!IP: Logged |

Okay, I know that I'm supposed to make it a key trigger, and I did, and it still didn't work. I'm using the Coastal Ruins wads, and the object's are as follows:Door: Door_type3 (I think that's how you spell it, if it's not, it's the gate with the head on it with the lock on it.) Key: Key_Item10 Key hole: Key_Hole10 ------------------ "Seth, ruler of evil, shall again be free at the turn of the distant millenia. As he unleashes plagues and locusts, harvests fail under the broken sky. In light of this, the Sun god Horus, banished the Lord of Darkness, Seth." IP: Logged |

Load up coastal.prj and go to room 129. Is your key_hole set up like this one? (In other words, is key_hole10 'dummy' object placed in front of the door?) If you click on the triggers (from the Plan View Grid) you will notice that the door has a normal trigger in this case, but the key_hole10 trigger is the one set to 'key'. If you set the door trigger as a key, which is normally what you would do, this would explain why your door wouldn't open when Lara used the key. If this wasn't the problem, make sure you have set a trigger for both the door and the key_hole10. Since the key_hole is a special trigger, the door trigger doesn't activate until Lara uses the 'key' but the door still has to have its own trigger.IP: Logged | |
