There is no Lara animation for the rope in City.wad, she graps it and then dissapears. I start to think now that objects can be in your wad but if they were not used in the original level they don't work.Correct me if I'm wrong. IP: Logged |

I think you're right. This goes back to what Reb said in another posting, that there are limitations in each WAD due to memory restrictions. So, if the original level did not require a rope (or whatever), it would have been a waste of memory to include the necessary animations in that WAD. I'm sure this isn't always the case, but the problem does seem pretty frequent, and the answer makes sense.IP: Logged |

As I read somewhere, they've put in some more objects in the wads to make them more interesting but I think they forgot to put in the right animations along with it. I think that the designers at Core compiled there own wads together with making the level, so they knew exactly what was used and what not.IP: Logged |

From what I have observed both of the game and the published desing process, after designing their level on paper (ick!), they prepared all meshes (objects to you non-programmers) and animation lists for each levels with their textures already incorporated. That's why one cannot see Lara textures in the .TGA. Then they built the levels *on the machine.*They knew what they wanted before even opening their computer. IP: Logged |
