Is there any way to add audio to your audio file with out losing some other sound? I was reading in the manual that if you want to change a sound in the audio folder that you have to copy over an exsisting sound. I dont want to copy over anything, just want to add a couple of new sounds to the AUDIO folder with out losing anything that came with the cd itself. Does anybody know a way or if it can be done at all? Valid answers only please.

If you have enough hard drive space try making a safe folder of the stuff you dont want to loose, you can always put them back if something screwed up happens.I have backed up pretty much everything wads,maps,.tr4 files, and wavs.Bit of a drag but at least you still got em!

Thanks,I have already done that, but you seem to have missed the point. I know how to back up my files, thats no problem. But I want to add some new sounds to the AUDIO folder and I dont want to overwrite anything.
If I do then I will not be able to use the sound I overwrited in the level at all.
Since the audio files or installed and are in a folder, I know there should be a way to
manipulate them with out overwriting. And also what happens when the next level loads up and the sound I overwrited is a sound I now need? Will I be able to take the overwrited sound out and put the original back in for the next level with out the game
crashing? And what if im using the same wad?
Hey man I got questions and I need answers.

I think I know what you're talking about.

I say just try it, name one of your .wav files 786 or something, and just use the sound trigger and type 786 into the CD thing and output it and see what happens.

If it does work, then you'll find out that way a lot faster than waiting all the way till Monday for Rebecca to come back and answer it.

Although it seems like to me that if that did work, they would have said something about it in the manual, but hey, it can't hurt to give it a shot.

Yeah thats what I thouht too, even after reading the manual I gave it a try. The trigger did work but the wave file I put in the AUDIO folder was not played, instead it just reset the background audio to the begining. It didnt crash at all but I didnt hear the new sound either. The point I guess im realy trying to make is even if I overwrited one of the sounds with a new one for the first level, then put the original sound back for the second level I would still have a problem. You see, the way it stands right now is if you overwrite a sound then your stuck with that new sound throughout the entire game. You wont be able to use the original sound again, period.
Sure you can put it back in your AUDIO folder, but then the new sound that you wanted to use for level one will be missing.
So its almost like a waist of time to even bother with it at all. There has to be a way around this, be it difficult or not I would like to know. So again I say...the wads are screwed up but can an should be fixed real soon. And the only real reasons that I can think of why we dont have them yet are......
1,eidos/core are still compiling information about whats needs to repaired. 2, there are no def plans to create patches and or new files such as wads and AUDIO. So untill we know which it is, then its going to be to our best interest to post every single glitch, missing animation,no climb,no monkey,no swim,etc,etc....so that it is included in the patch if there is even to be one...........you feel me?

Please make sure that your file is compressed in ADPCM and has the correct rate (44.100 16 Bit).
