I just got TR Chronicals which included a level editor. Is there anything I should look out for or is it pretty straight forward?

Just read the manual and do the tutorial. Just do those two things and you should be making levels in no time.

There are many things you should know, so AFTER you read the tutorial you should have a look at http://www.levelworld.org/faq.php and see the (unofficial) FAQ - this saves much time, because many questions are already answered there!
