when i go to compile my level, an error message appears telling me an illegal operation has been performed. Under the output window it says:'room tex infos: 3' and then ERROR: could not find... and then writes the directory structure to the wads directory, but the rest is off-screen and i cannot scroll the window as the error message is in the way. But i have to close this and it closes the program down. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a texture problem? thanks IP: Logged |

i saved it as 'test' and outputted the wad file called 'test.tom' to a directory called 'test' in the maps directory. There is also a .TGA file in every maps folder. Am i supposed to save a .TGA file here and how do i do it? I can save a .PCX file, not a .TGA. [This message has been edited by Hotwire1 (edited 12-30-2000).] IP: Logged |

There's your problem, you can't do that. If you wanted to make a level called test, then you would have to go through your wad directory and rename all the files associated with that praticular wad test.whatever. Then you would have to edit the script and engilsh, txt files, recompile them in DOS, and copy the dat files into the trle directory before you could ever even play it. All of that is explained int the manual. For now, I woul recommend just saving over whatever wad it is your using. Ex. If you used the object file from karnak, then save as karnak.tom, if you used the objects from tut1 then save as tut1.tom, and so on. Hope this helps. Ah...I had the same problem only yesterday and was looking onto the board with the intention of asking for help on this myself. Stupid thing is, I read that part of the manual and didn't get what it was talking about....renamed all my files in its own directory but didn't do the editing script & .txt etc. Hmm...this could cause a problem since there are two of us using the level editor on the same pc and I suspect the same object files. I shall have to learn to do it the long way around.IP: Logged |
