Could someone tell me how to make a door that isn't mystical and magical and utterly lacking in solidity? It really is holding me back. Please reply, thanks.

When you create a "door" between two rooms with the black door button you are actually just making a portal or opening. After you do that you must place one of the doors from the object list in that opening. Then place a trigger to open it.
