Have you even BOTHERED to read the manual? What you have on your screen is the room-editor; now all you have to do is build your rooms, connect them, set your traps and triggers, place lara in the level, apply your textures, compile the level, and you've got a level... what exactly is the problem? Best regards, Striffelbuur.

Not really... this guy is describing the room editor and then asks why it won't work, while everything he says indicates that it DOES work. He descibes everything as something of a 'thingy-looking thing', so it's quite clear he has not read the manual, or he could at least refer to the different parts of the editor by name. People too lazy to even bother reading through the trouble-shooting part of a manual are not very likely to be productive members of the trle-community, unless they get their act together, and use their brain first to figure out how to do something before they start asking questions. Best regards, Striffelbuur.

not too lazy --- it's not very clear that the Manual is there unless you look for it in the "\core design\trle\Manual" directory. it took me a while to find it myself......and browsing through the posts, it sounds like a common dilemna. IP: Logged |

Among the shortcuts placed in the START-menu there is, apart from Room Editor and Level Convertor, quite clearly a Manual; it would be quite puzzling if anyone would actually expect to do with Core's editor what Core usually takes about a year. Best regards, Striffelbuur.

I found that printing the manual out helped enormously-slapped the whole thing in a folder and it's there when I need it.I should really be spending my time right now finishing off my own level. After that I should have more of an understanding about the topics discussed on this here forum-then I'd be only too happy to help others learn the basics!never enough hours is there? Absolutely true... I've just about gotten the grips with building rooms, actually, and only now I feel I'm ready to move along to experimenting with traps, baddies, and puzzles... I must say that I'm really glad about this forum, and about Eidos' support. Hopefully the combined effort of all the trle-users 'out there' will result in some interesting levels... Myself, I visit the forum whenever I've got a couple of spare minutes to see if there are any questions I can answer, or if there's an important trick explained... Best regards, Striffelbuur.

Hey Striffelbuur,I'm doing just that right now-I add a little to my current room then peruse the posts. As you are just getting started with your object placement and triggers I'll probably see some questions posted soon.Myself?I'm more interested in the architecture-which is kinda funny scince the game engine is very blocky.Just give me a big old cavern with a teasing little ledge in plain view and watch me go...------------------ Made with orange and fine old cognac brandy! I've just made the smallest outdoor room in existance thanks to cameras. The camera always points to the entrance to the building and though it looks like you're outside, you can only see the immeadiate vicinity, which is very small.IP: Logged |

Foxy, could it be that you are in 800x600 resolution and not seeing the entire screen?IP: Logged |
