I think the sky graphics in Librairy are not supposed to work, don't worry...they don't.

Funny thing is...I was replaying part of the level, stood with my back against one of the bookshelves, the camera swung behind Lara and I saw both the horizon and sky graphics with a blue sky and white clouds.
(find-object in the .prj file says both are not used)

Is there a way to enable the sky graphics through the script ?

I was wrong, the sky graphics and the horizon do work in Librairy.wad.

But...I disabled the horizon in the script (mountains in Holland is not very realistic)and now it appears that the sky-graphics
are actually one flat square and the horizon is there to cover the edges of this square.
(which now can be seen)
I've never seen this in City.wad although I also worked without horizon there.

It could be that I'm only talking to myself in this thread. But if it concernes you it will save you a couple of hours work.

Cheers
Pytr

Hiya,

Well, the horizon and sky-graphics used to work in my project using the newcity.wad, but two days ago they suddenly stopped appearing :-(

Even tried to recreate the project from scratch, but can't get the sky to appear again... guess I've finally bumped into that problem that everybody here used to have ;-)

Greetz from Amsterdam,

Hi,

Recreate from scratch?? your whole office?

I know it sounds strange but for me it worked to redo only one of the transparant textures,(upper left in colors)to activate the sky textures again.
Since I can't find much logic in the sky-graphics untill now I don't know if it will work for you...

Finished my level?

C ya

Well, it's big, but it's not THAT big... besides, I've drawn it all out with all the heights, widths, and lengths of each room including details about doors and such, so it doesn't take that much time...

Well, I'll definitely have to try that one out; I've currently been trying to achieve the outside panorama by using a huge panoramic picture all tiled up, but this way you still lack a moving sky...

Alas, not yet... still stumbling around in the dark; though I have to admit I did not yet spend a lot of time on it.... very curious though to see if you have tried to build a bit of the actual city...

About the sky graphics....it does say somewhere in the manual (the sample WAD, I believe) that you do not place any sky 'objects' in your level. The sky graphics only work in the WADS that have a HORIZON slot in the .WAS file and the necessary horizon lines (pun intended!)of text in the script.txt file. That is why it is so important to use the correct block of script when switching levels around or building your own sequence of levels. As for the sky graphics suddenly not working...hmmm...could you have accidentally retextured the 'transparent' areas with the wrong color??? Remember that you have to apply the black transparency color (the upper left corner of the palette below the editor window) to the outside rooms.

It hurts to hear that people are having to redo an entire level. Have you tried going back to those earlier versions that you did save (didnt' you??) to see if you could find exactly when the sky (or whatever) stopped working? It is true that sometimes bugs develop...that is why it is SO IMPORTANT to save new versions constantly. Every time you save, add the next letter of the alphabet so you can easily keep track of your latest version. You should have at least 15 to 20 iterations at all times!

It turned out that I had suddenly started to use the grey color next to the black transparency color in the top left corner...

Well, I wouldn't worry about that too much if I were you. As both a programmer and an artist, I frequently have to do stuff over and over again, until I get it exactly right, and that's just part of the deal... especially if you're figuring out some new stuff, like, in this case, the TR Level Editor... One simply cannot expect to get it all perfect on the first go...

Yep, no worries there... been retracing my steps carefully to see where I went wrong... got about 30 .PRJ files of the same level now, but that's just the way it is when you're developing something of which you don't quite know the outcome yet ;-)

Best regards & thanks for the great support...
