OK. I'm no dope but I feel like one when it comes to triggers.Part 1: getting a door to open on a switch: I can't get it to work. This is what I'm doing. what am i doing wrong? * Open tut1.prj * menu option: Object | Place Object. pick door_type4; OK; pick square on editor window floor. * From the plan view panel; click on the text box between the "L" button and the Purple button that is triggers. this brings up the Set Trigger Type window. * all number buttons are black; Trigger = object; "Door_type4". Type = Switch. Timer = 0. One shot is gray. Numbers are all black. pick OK. * pick a square on the editor window floor and click the Purple triggers key; this turns the floor square purple. * menu option Object | Place Object. pick Lever_switch; ok. click on purple square. lever appears on purple square. * Save; output wad; run converter; load game. * Flip the switch; nothing happens. Grrr! Part 2; If a square contains multiple triggers, how do you view them all? Thanks to all in advance for your great patience, very detailed answers, and NOT telling me to read the Manual, as I *have* in great detail. -Michael ------------------ How can I be dead already? Hello this is somthing I copied a while back I believe it was REB the moderator that posted this: The general procedure for making a switch open a door is as follows: First, place the door and switch on your map. Then, with FACE EDIT off, click on the switch. Now, click on the square directly beneath the switch (the square that the switch is sitting on, in other words), and press the pink trigger button. Now, click in the white box next to the trigger button on the left hand side of the interface. Set the trigger type to "SWITCH." Next, click on the door. Now, click on the square beneath the switch again (same square as before), and press the pink trigger button again. This time, however, do not set the trigger type. Certain doors must be positioned properly in order to open correctly. For example, DOOR TYPE 4 in the TUT.WAD should be placed in the room that the door is opening into. Others have certain height and width requirements. Getting it to work requires some trial and error, but the basic steps are always the same. I would recommend that you copy this to a notepad document, until you get the hang of it.I try to save as much useful info from here that I can.Good luck and remember to SAVE!------------------ IP: Logged |

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!If I click on the square repeatedly, I get the red box and the rotating arrows... I found that selecting the square and then clicking the purple button rotates through the triggers one time. I want to set the timer now... If I set the timer field on the lever_switch trigger and select OK; then open the trigger again, timer = 0. same for door. If Lara moves the switch back and forth, the door opens and closes... How do I set the timer? Do you have any quotes on exactly how to set the door to work on two switches? I know it is related to the 1-5 buttons, but haven't gotten it to work yet... -M ------------------ How can I be dead already?
