I've been playing around with mixing WADs lately, but it hasn't been turning out so well If I make any progress I will be sure to post that up here, so check back here every so often ------------------ Rock on. 85 IP: Logged |

I look forward to ANYONE coming up with a "Split-WAD" program, so we can import objects perhaps even from earlier games (Like putting the SCION into a TR4-type level...)IP: Logged |

I would imagine it would be pretty easy to interchange meshes of objects, but then new texture sheets would have to be made... very unlikely. very.------------------ Visit my site at http://members.tripod.com/joeverdi/ IP: Logged |

not unlikely at all. All you have to do is collect all the images for a specific image, re-tile them (which is a little complex) then output the image data & the mesh data - in effect creating a miniwad file with the information for one mesh (not an entire object or animation though! - not yet), then reimport same into the wad. Yes its not possible this week - but..... watch this space.IP: Logged |

Actually, I just got an idea...how about creating a tool that would split each and every WAD object into a single small file, essentially creating a "library" of objects, which could then be mixed and matched at will to create whatever WAD you wanted...Add to the tool the ability to import new fully textured meshes from 3DS MAX, and we could rock and roll! I like your thinking. But can we do It (or should I say, can you do it). It will be done eventually it's just the matter of who and when. It's good to see all the replies to this subject. Scorpion IP: Logged |
