Don't let the rude people discourage you, if they just trash you and don't offer any constructive criticism then their opinion isn't worth listening to. Just build on what you've learned from creating your levels and eventually you'll be in league with the best.mike

I think if we had a larger variety of wads and less bugs in the deitor, everybody would be able to do brilliant levels. The stuff we have to work with doesn't always work. My levels are crap to, so I'm waiting until Eidos sort out the wads properly before I start putting real effort in.IP: Logged |

Everyone who's ever tried designing a level must have made a crappy level at some point... it's simply impossible to get it right the first time. I haven't seen your levels, Lara, but they couldn't be any worse than my first efforts (or anyone else's for that matter.) At least you were brave enough to post yours-- I'm not letting anyone see anything of mine until I'm 100% certain it's perfect (it'll never happen.) IP: Logged |

Don't listen to any negative comments people might say! I am a begginer too and am just learning things gradually. I am amazed at some of things people can do. But I loose all respect for those "good level builders" when they start saying other people's levels are crap.I'm sure your levels are great Lara Severi!

You can try Lara's levels at the address at the bottom. If it's any help, Lara, receiving your levels made me realise I've got lots of work left to do on mine. I haven't had a chance to play both yet, currently only just started Underground Organisation, but I love the mood of it and it has one ingredient that a lot of levels that I have seen are sorely lacking - playability. Running tombraider-customlevels, both Mike and I see a lot of levels which we feel, although look gorgeous (beautifully textured and lit) have absolutely no playability. You just run down this huge corridor until a bag guy pops up and starts shooting, unfortunately people rarely see all the level cos they stop and load in something that "plays". I say keep up the good work and when do we get to host the next?Col ------------------ www.tombraider-customlevels.fsnet.co.uk IP: Logged |

Don't worry, my very first level was pure crap, and I think you were very brave to publish yours. It's incredible how I actually learned things when making my second level, which is located @ http://mapage.noos.fr/nnourss/Amilha.zip Now that I feel more comfortable with the editor, I've started a new project, which I will reveal later, when it's close to completion, but it will take place in Paris. However, I consider myself as a poor texturer and the worst gameplay designer ever. I can create complex architecture, but I'm lousy at creating a level that keeps you involved 'til the end. Just keep going on ! Just because those people made 1 or 2 good levels doesn't mean they will do it all over again. Be proud of you, and stand for the damn thing. This is your work, you got involved in it, and people shouldn't just bash it back and forth. IP: Logged |

I've already trashed 3 unfinished levels becouse I decided they were rubish!I should have stuck with them as I spent a great deal of time on the architecture-just got in a mess with the puzzles.I have found that after spending a week building up an idea,it's worth leaving it for a fiew days, then going back to it.This seams to hi-light areas that don't work or gell together properly.Oodles of enthusiasm will always pay off in the end! ------------------ Made with orange and fine old cognac brandy! Hey Tomb Raider Fan, send me the .tom and you can link it to the site at the bottom. I've tried ncbi and tripod and have found both...well crap. I upload the file ok and then their server goes down, as it is now, and no one can download it or it deletes it which is nice when you are trying to provide an alternative download for the revised and new wadsCol. ------------------ www.tombraider-customlevels.fsnet.co.uk IP: Logged |
