why does everybody think that when you talk about wanting a wad editor you are expecting core design to put one out. First of all, he who does not ask rarely ever receives (anything favorable at least), and secondly,
eidos can't be expected to do much anyway (for free at least(you know, capitalism)).
There are a lot of people in the world and some of us just hope that maybe a request for a new program to help us use more of our imagination and not be limited so much might fall on the ears of those who produce programs in their spare time because thats what they like to do and not so they can slap a 39.99 price tag on everything that leaves their front door. core is not responsible when it comes to us making what we want to see. the only help that we need from core maybe things such as a few enemies redone for the current editor that are reminiscent of the older games. and maybe some enemies and artifacts that are more global. it's hard to make a jungle temple feel right with anubis hounds and egyptian artifacts. Okay, I will relinquish the podium now. thank you for listening any programmers please become heroes( it would be easy here) core, just a few things in a more global wad ,wolves, t-rex,lion, for all of us who have remained loyal.

I know where this is going! Second do you not read posts and other things, and third only wads from tr4 and possibly 5 can be used, besides core eidos won't remake objects from previous games, they might as well create another game. But that's my view. I hope this thread doesn't errupt like my first one.

"p-brain", look here new guy, get your fact straight. And I want to see your website. I'm tired of putting up with know it alls who don't know it all, "ah" don't even start by saying I think I'm a know it all because I'm not and I realize that unlike some people. Well hope you didn't take this personally because I didn't, haha. Enjoy your life in the forums because this won't be your first bad post!

you still don't get it. and the only reason you jump on me is because you are offended. when I posted my cry for a wad editor I was targeting third parties not core. don't take your frustrations out on me because somebody rubbed your nose in it and this is not a bad post. I'm just waiting for someone who likes to fix things to come along and read this so maybe we can get an intelligent response to a yearning for more freedom. oh and as far as the web site goes, I work, maybe you should try getting out sometime.
might as well give up ,the situation is hopeless. If you are not going to help us who would like to build on it then sit in your corner and be happy with yourself. You forget that I did not ask for a debate all I did was ask for someone who might be interested to make something that could help us out. And yes I am a new guy but, remember that you were too at some point, so I hardly think that justifies anything at all.

Easy there, I've helped plenty, I was a new guy. I was just trying to point out the obvious the only useful wads are tr4 wads. No hard feelings?

No need to fight gentlemen and insult each other. I can see the point in wanting a wad editor. I would like one. My hi-tech levels look daft with the Egyptian objects.

There is however a slight problem. Dont get me wrong, but nobody really knows enough about the format used to program anything like the wad editor Core use. I programmed Texture Edit at www.3dactionplanet.com/tombraider becuase it was an extremely easy thing to do. A fully fledged wad editor would in my opinion but a lot harder to come up with.

After all most commercial programming projects have more than one good programmer working on the same thing. So there could of been 10+ people who put together the wad editor who in most cases dont get a mention in the credits in the back of the TR manuals.

So I guess what I'm saying is simply be patient. Someone may someday come up with a wad editor but until I think people should stop demanding something from programmers like myself that we simply cant program yet.

Before I go, most commercial programmers only write one line of code per day. Its apparently the standard.

John

Pwhirl is a well respected member of this forum and has help out alot of people. There are people in this forum who "ARE" working on a wad editor and they too are well respected members of this forum. The basic rules of this forum are to act like an adult and to be helpful to other members.I sure you will find "boomraider" that if you continue to insult people that you dont even know you will ultimatly insult somone that could help you.Pwhirl keep up the good work.

I'll just chuck in my 2 cents worth. I've played a number of levels created by fans, and I've yet to find one that doesn't literally reek of the hard work and effort it took to make it. If trle has it's limitations, I would have to say that you lot out there seem to overcome them and turn out some really impressive stuff. We've had levels based in people's houses (Amsterdam by Pietyr), levels reminiscent of TR1 (Crash in the Highlands by seven125), Tube Stations (Genova Principle by FZ) and Venice(Return to Venice by Pwhirl)I do though have to agree with some of the sentiments on this forum in that if we want more wads we have to keep saying so, but what we have, has given me a lot of fun and long nights.

How about the Adventures of Lara in Wonderland? Talk about psych! There are some FANTASTIC levels out there! and NONE of them cost 39.99!!! The purchase price of TR5 (such a shame, the disappointment of it) just to get the level editor so I could download all the great games! My 6 year old son and I have created a level or two (none worthy of submission). We enjoy drawing up the ideas and trying to get them to work. He doesn't enjoy killing animals, so we try to keep the baddies to a minimum and the puzzles to a maximum. Kudos to all those putting out levels!!!

I am so much more interested in editing, but find my collection of skills lacking. The trial and error thing drives me nuts because the 'output wad' and 'level converter' take so much of my (very limited) time. Has anyone found a place with more details than the manual TRLE came with?
