ADVICE: BACK UP NOW!!!I ran tomb Raider today, the WAV/Sound engine got stuck in a loop, the game crashed. And when I reloaded it froze and the system died! On reboot... guess what?!!? TRLE had eaten through all the Core Design files wiping out everything from the HD in its path. All the maps, wads, sounds and all the work I have been doing for 2 months! (and all backups) WERE KILLED outright!!! Leaving the rest of the system intact. No recovery program will bring them back from the HD. Gone forever. Bloody depressed! BACK UP NOW!!! make a CDR every week!!! or everyday! So where are files? 400 files just disappeared. Can only the programmers of TRLE can give me the answer?? arrrgghhh... This crash happened once before last month but didn't do any damage.... IP: Logged |

**** hey. That sucks. TRLE has crashed on me plenty of times but it has never wiped anything. In fact i've never lost anything (bar unsaved work) because of a program crashing. It sounds a bit strange to me.IP: Logged |

Before you do anything drastic, look into some unerase software. Like norton2001, you may be able to get your files back!Good luck! IP: Logged |

Unfortunately I have all those programs like Norton and HD recover etc.I tried everything. These programs found everything that I had done since I bought the computer except those files!! arrrgh. The only piece of luck is the AUTOSAVE.prj it saved one of my last projects during the crash and I was able to get some of it back by getting around the ARG.list error problems... There isn't a virus or anything in the system. So I'm backing up everything like crazy from now on. pe@ce MIRAI

From the beginning of the level-editor i ALWAYS kept backups on my other drive in case of crashing and failure. Never got what you had. This is VERY frustrating for you. I can understand and a few reply's wont help. Hope you can solve it without to many re-editing. IP: Logged |

I wonder if you run a scandisk, if you might find some FILE* files in your root directory? I really find it hard to believe the LE did this. I would suspect Windows first.

Are you sure that was a TRLE problem? once I got a virus and the only thing that was affected was my TR4... I could not use anymore the MEDIPACKS! even in the previous tr4 which I back up... so, I though that was a virus build exactly for myself...I sent to my second pc one of my tr4... and once sent, I was not able to use the medipacks even in the second PC!!!!! So, be careful even about this... "trojans and viruses"... If it is a "custom virus" maybe the norton does not recognize it, and it can even be activated only after a reset or a reloading of the machine... Anyhow, apart from this (virus or not), I am REALLY SAD FOR YOU. I will backup my most important things right now. IP: Logged |
