Here is my latest list of questions for the brains of this forum! -

1) How do I create a mirror effect? (I'm crap at Maths, so its dead hard)

2) Where are the textures for those two thin bits of skin between laras boobs and neck?

3) Why won't the Wad Merger programme work! I get 'Run time' error box instead.

4) I know this clever dude (sends me emails) He wants to know how he can put his own wads in the editor! HE HAS MADE HIS OWN WADS PEOPLE!!! Does anyone know if he can actually put them in a level?

5) What would people like to see added to my sites next? http://www.tripod.com/editor23 or http://www.communigate.co.uk/ne/leveleditor

6) How do I make my own animating textures?

7) Where is the texture for the bottom of Laras back pack?

***Please help me!***

Well lara I can help you with the mirror effect
first you have to create two rooms of equal size and texture them the same and place the objects that you want in both rooms in the same locations in both then connect the rooms together with a vertical door make the door the full length of the room then highlight the portal in the planview grid and click toggle opacity 1 and transparent and doublesided and apply the glass texture to the portal make sure you do this in the room on right now click the blue square in the upper left corner of the right side room and look in the details box for the x value of the square you clicked on add 1 to that value and multiply that number by 1024 now you have to convert the answer to a hex value to do that use the windows calculator and set it to scientific mode enter the answer and click on hex mode make sure you write down the number and don't forget make a note of the room number where you got the x value now using notepad open the script.txt file in the script folder of the level editor find the level that you are working on and after the puzzle lines enter mirror= followed by the room number a comma the dollar sign and finaly the hex number save the edited script file then open a dos window unless you have the packer.exe program
which i would recomend because it moves the created files into the right folder on your hard drive but if you don't in the dos window go to c:\progra~1\corede~1\trle\script
and type script script.txt when the program is finished move the newly created script.dat and english.dat files into the root folder of the level editor load up your level and check out your mirror note:make sure you dont move the rooms in the level editor or your mirror won't work.....hope this helps

Dear Lara, for the textures you have not found, I have a method: open the BMP of the texture of the WAD: colour an half part of it completely with a vivid color, like yellow: then put the bmp in the wad with the strpix, create a playable level and look at lara: if the texture you want to change is yellow, then you know that that texture belongs to the yellow part you coloured. Come back to the original BMP with no yellow parts: now you colour 1/4 and make another playable level If the texture on lara is yellow, then you can go on with 1/8 then 1/16 and so go on until you find it. If the texture is NOT in the first half part (you divided the complete BMP in two parts in the beginning), you know that is in the second part! But now that you know that that texture is in the second half you can go on trying again with 1/4.
This really works, is a scientific method to find a thing: when the yellow part is little enough, you can try to guess the right texture. It is very long, couse you have continuously put again the BMP in the wad, load again your prj with the LE, create again a .tom, convert it again with the level converter, and finnally play it. It works, be only patient. :-)

You don't need to convert the tom, once you've recoloured Lara, open a prj in winroomedit that uses the right WAD, (or start one for this purpose), then in the object window, select Lara_Skin and Lara_Joint to see your changes.

As for WADMerger you may be missing ComDlg32.ocx from your windows\system folder, you can get it from our tools page

Lara I assume u have windows 95 or 98 right
well to open a dos window first click start then programs then look for MS-DOS prompt click on that and you will be in a dos window
then type cd progra~1\corede~1\trle\script
cd means change directory

I did the DOS thing and it didn't work, but it doesnt matter anyway because I downloaded Easy Life (big respect to the creator of that programme!) and it converted the files for me.
I made a mirror!! Yeah!! I spent about half an hour just jumping Lara about and watching the mirror Lara copy her. It was bang on (and funny)! Thanx for your help.

Thank you, you are most welcome. I wondered why Eidos didn't include something like it until I tried their packer utility for altering the menu screen, and found that it doesn't work...too many /.
