I am really p****d off now........ My level no longer works. I had got as far as creating 206 rooms and then the game would not load after I converted the .TOM file. So I deleted one of my puzzle stacks and added a simple finish room..... this converted and was playable ...... untill I triggered the first baddie and the game crashed to desktop..... GRRRRR !!!

Stupid thing is that I was nowhere near the limit for objects or triggers (maybe a bit high on texture info's though..... 391).

So now I have to split my level....... the first section seems to run ok with 170+ rooms ....... oh well 2 for the price of 1 I guess.....

391 Textures! wow!
what program are you useing to edit in? I run into serios problems when I go over 34 rows. the whole map begins resizing. even when I try to corect it in teditv2.0 with the resize feture I seem to be off by 1/2 pixle.

Oooops........... I should have been clearer, 391 texture info's.... not tiles. I am using the scotland.TGA..... there are about 40 or so tiles in that file.... but when you start using all the half, quarter etc. segments.... the text info's soon add up.

you can't put more than about 290 different textures in all the level, if you use a normal WAD not mergered with others: you can't put more than 16 lights/shadows in the same room

Sure about that Psiko...... the first half of the level runs currently with 379 texture info's ....... the second half has a room with a minimum of 25 effects lights..... but then I think this is all subjective.... it is a combination of many things which limit the level..... # of rooms... size of rooms.... amount of objects.... as well as the things above...... what system you have etc.....

it is not subjective.... it depends on with how many bit the level editor was written: the lights and shadows MUST be not more than 16 (that is 4 bit) and so for the texture info: 4MB in total, that are textures for the objects in the wad and the textures info that you put in your level.... more than this the level WON'T work!

I really have no idea about the amount of memory allocated to the various functions of the editor...... but the numbers I quoted are correct and the levels run fine now .... so what are the actual limits? ..... why is it my level runs and other peoples don't who have less texture info's...... its certainly not the number of rooms I am using as there are 179 rooms in the first half...... could it be that I have only used just over half of the available object slots?

Does anyone know any certain figures for the limits to what you can and cannot use?

Yes... you are right... there are limits, but somehow they can be passed by... infact I used more than 350 objects in my new level... and in the window of the level editor it is written 160.... really COOL!

I know that anything in the Furniture, Rock, Debris or architecture slots do not get counted as an object.... so you can put as many of them in as you like..... basically, anything that moves counts though.....
