Buy an new computer,
buy an new K56 V90 Modem,
get an new BT line laid into the house,
check 20 odd ISP'S before signing up with the fastest one,
install WIN ME'
tweak everthing till it's singing,
What do you get - 1.1K download speeds - internet age - more like stone age!

Question - what does Joe average get as a download speed??
Probably something similar to me - therefore why does Eidos bundle downloads into the same ZIP file to give us 12Megs??

I think we all suffered the Monkey/rope problem - I spent days checking and tweaking before I checked the Forumn - so why put all the files into the ZIP to fix a duff original program.

1. I tried downloading Revised Wads file with Windows - best I got was 42% before server dropped out (probably the battery ran out).
2. Installed Real Download - best was 76% - and it refused to resume.
3. I then installed Download Accelerator Plus which is a neat program which searches the web for sites containing the file, it then tests the connection speeds, it then divides the file by the number of sites and downloads - when complete it puts the sections together to form the completed ZIP. In my case it ran from 4 sites takin 25% of the Zip from each site.

So eventualy it got the download speed to 4.6K.

Eidos can you post files on your site individualy?

If not is there anything stopping me posting them on my site as individual files?

If others have similar download speeds then everyone will have the same problem downloading freeware levels.

If you try our site, you'll find all the WADs split up into more manageable d'loads on the tools page. Also try something like Gozilla, so you can pick up where you left off. One problem in downloading is "ping" time, which is the complexity of the route that the file has to come to get to you, how many different servers etc. Best of luck
