Hello,
It's great to see how everybody posts wads. When I download one of them, I get the
.WAS
.lar
.raw
.sam
.sfx
.SWD
.WAD
.CD files.
Where is the .tom file? How do I create it?
Don't I have to do some script changes??
Can someone please answer with a little step-by-step guide how to make a new wad playable in TRLR.

Thanks in advance...

P.s. Sometimes there is a script.txt file with the download. It contains all the existing wads plus the new block. Well, now I download 2 wads which script do I need?
Can I just copy the block from the new level
into my existing script??

Hope that wasn't too much at one time

well I can at least tackle the first half for you. first move all of the wad files that you listed above into your graphics/wads folder in your trle root directory . if you already have wad files under these names you should rename the originals to prevent an overwrite, another option is simply moving them into a safe folder. now a .tom file is generated wen you output a wad from room editor. this is done by clicking on the prj drop down menu ( upper left corner) and selecting output wad. now to make a playable level from this you run tom2pc.exe under edit script choose add and hit build all this will convert and compress all level info into a .tr4 found in your data folder (this is now a playable version).
now as far as making script changes a few things to consider is 1) don't rename your wad files unless it is necessary. 2 any changes you make in the script must also be changed in your English.txt 3) the 2 txt files need to be converted to.dat files and 4) script.bat was supplied to do this, but doesn't work properly Get Easylife.bat
hope this helps though I'm sure I missed something or misunderstood atlest part of your question.

let me know and I'll try again.

I am having the same problem. I understand what you are saying except whe you said,

now to make a playable level from this you run tom2pc.exe under edit script choose add and hit build all this will convert and compress all level info into a .tr4 found in your data folder

I don't understand the part about tom2pc.exe

tom2pc.exe is the level converting program: once you have done your prj file with the level editor you have to save the prj as a TOM file with the same name of the object wad set you have imported in the beginning: once you have the tom file saved, you have to run tom2pc.exe (you find it in the level editor folder) in order to make the tom file as a tr4 file, which is playable.

looking at that now I can see the potential confusion.
I'd better watch out for my run-on sentences, sorry.
tom2pc.exe is a program found in your root directory (C./program files/core/trle) it is one of 3 files with the Laura icon. open this and look to the bottom left corner of the interface. notice 3 groups of buttons (script file, edit script, and convert directories). under edit script choose add. this will open a dialog box listing all available tom files from your graphics/wads folder . one you have selected the .tom file you need, hit the build all button. This process will convert and compress all level info from your .tom into a playable P.C. level with a .TR4 extension (this is found in your data folder). hence "tom2pc" get it? now it should only be a matter of clicking the Tomb4.exe icon and selecting your new level. Happy gaming!

oops, maybe I didn't explain my probelm right, because after I found the tom2pc.exe I realized it is the same thing under the Start Menu called Level Converter.

My problem is that I downloaded some new objects or "wads" that are not called:

coastal, city, karnak, cleopatra, catacomb, tut1, etc.

they are called house.wad, it also comes with other files all called house (dot) something else.

what should I output my wad as? After all, on the Title Screen there is nothing that says house

what should I do to use these objects?

Thanx

lol

hey I think you got me there. one suggestion I have is to import these objects into another wad using trwest. also look over your wads folder as to familiarize your self with all the file extensions that a wad contains. A wad is more than just a .wad and .was, I think most or all of the files your referring to will go into your graphics/wads folder.
hope this is more helpful than confusing.
