Here's what i figured out... it's not perfect but it's sumthing- PROGRAMS NEEDED
-TRViewer 0.80 -STRPix3 -Rhinoceros -Crossroads Converter (Get it) INSTRUCTIONS
1.) Using TRViewer, open the TR file containing the object you wish to retrieve. 2.) Find the object and then right-mouse click on the object's name and select "Export to 3DS" and save it sumwhere. 3.) Load Rhinoceros and open the file you saved it under. 4.) You're going to need to resize the object because @ the moment it is extremely large ( too big to be imported). To do this, click the "Transform" menu, click the "Scale" sub-menu, and then click "Scale 3-D". Click on point above the object and then click again below the object in the "Perspective" screen. Resize the object. *You may need to do a little trial and error here, unless you can find sum way to scale it.* 5.) Save the file as a .3DS file (don't try to save it as .DXF yet, it'll mess things up). 6.) Load the Crossroads Coverter, and open the .3DS file you saved the resized object to. 7.) Save that file as AutoCAD (.DXF). 8.) Load STRPix3 and open the .WAD file you want to import the object mesh into. 9.) Scroll through the meshes until you find a single intact mesh under one of the ANIMATION slots in the .WAD file. 10.) Click "Import Dxf" under the file menu and then select the converted .DXF file. 11.) Finally, save the .WAD file. PROBLEMS
-The process is very time consuming. -The objects are not solid (you can walk through them in the game). -The textures do not show up. That's it!! To see a picture of the results, click here.

Wait till WADmerger 1.7. I bet you'll run out of words. Or maybe go to trwad.50megs.com and look around a bit.IP: Logged |

>5.) Save the file as a .3DS file (don't try >to save it as .DXF yet, it'll mess things >up). You can save DXF from Rhino selecting "3dface" method and "Autocad ver 13" option in the DXF export dialog. >-The objects are not solid (you can walk through them in the game). If you replace a original solid object for your new Object then it wil be solid too. Or you can use TRLE to edit the object colision info. T.P. IP: Logged |

Billy I had this prob for a lil while too. before you save as dfx. double check everything. make sure all objects have a layer name as Turbo described. to do this hit select all (so all parts of your model are highlighted green) next click edit, bottom of drop down menu click object properties. when you get the next menu click objet info. here you will get a list of all the objects that your model is composed of. each one must have a layer name, I.E.. texture_xxx of flipped_xxx. if any object dose not have this you will not be successful. also if you have not downloaded the new version since a few days ago, do so it works better then ever. Turbo is a genius. good luck -rob IP: Logged |

that's right. I have had much better luck with rhino lately. the problems I was having before where due to my own confusion. when Turbo describes saving the object as a layer name, I was thinking of the entire model as a single object. any model is actually made up of several or many objects. (each one must have this layer name). the associated texture is less important, as long as you assign one to the layer. (you can always retexture latter). other things to note: the vertices limitation of aprox 255. this refers to the number of vert's when the mod is in strpix. when you are working in rhino as a *.3dm, you will have a higher number of vertices. it is when you save back to dxf in the manner Turbo describes that your vertices will come back down. if you have any more confusion I will be happy to help. What can I say to you Robbase...I've just took a gander at the altered motor bike and thought it was brill. Not that I'm into purple choppers but the fact that were able to convert it and get Lara to ride the thing....Ooh Wee!!!I looked at my little gold bar (in 'the well of the lost soul') and mine looks very insignificant. Your achieving what I think is the way many of should go to achieve something special...a level we've designed ourselves and not had to go out and buy!!! How do you "save an object as a layer name" lke you described as this seems to be were I'm falling down. Once again Robbase...Ooh Wee!!! BillyIP: Logged |
