Can you take music from other games or programs and use it as an audio (wav) file and use it in your levels, if you're going to release it on the internet? Is it legal?IP: Logged |

yes you can
I use Cool Edit Pro for ripping or recording music from other TR games (or even other games) and convert them to the right format for the level editor------------------

It is illegal. (I think) but I doubt anyone is ever going to bother. My Raid On track is illegal in this respect but I`m not expecting Core to come knocking at my door! If anyone were to try and make money out of copied material then that`s different. You`d more than likely get into bother for that. But for simply copying audio files from one game to another and then publishing that as a fan level isn`t going to cause much of a fuss is it? Look at any TR fansite on the net and it will more than likely contain images that have come from an official source originally. Using them too is a breach of copywrite but nobody is ever going to bother.As long as you`re not out to profit or use material distastefully I wouldn`t worry. The powers at be have much more to worry about. ------------------
