Right. So I've done it eventually: The ‘Final Version’ of my first Level is out.Be warned, though: The download is HUGE (23 MB). That's because there are some customized sound files included which form an integral part of the whole. Anybody who has played the beta version of this level, however, can get away with downloading only an upgrade patch (9.2 MB). Unfortunately, you can't use this upgrade patch on its own, it will completely mess up your game if you don't have the sound files. But then again, I'm glad to announce that there is also a Radio Edit available that has only one custom file (resulting in a considerably smaller download). However, I'd still recommend that you download the Full Version...it's more fun. The download and a few screenshots are available on my homepage. “Die Deutschen und ihre riesigen Level”—“The Germans and their gigantic levels”—well, there must be some truth in that. It seems that we Germans actually do have some sort of inclination towards the monumentally sublime, LOL.IP: Logged |

Hokolo 15.2 meg and now you with 23 meg, LOL.and before you think I have something against Germany, don't bother, I was born in Hamburg, LOL aber bin ausgewandert. (and my german has suffered through too many years of Aussie lingo, LOL) so forgive any grammatical and/or spelling errors, LOL. IP: Logged |

Hi Torry, I come from germany too, but my levels are not as big as you say, my latest one, The Cave Of Pandora is only about 6.1 MB, not 15!P.S How can I change my username in this forum, I am Hokolo, the username Hoko results from a mistake in email-registration.

An announcement from the PR section of Mulf Interactive Ltd.:I’m pleased to announce that my server’s statistics tells me that there have been 33 downloads so far—which is rather a good result when you take into consideration that the level has only been out for two days and that it is a huge download after all. What pleases me most, however, is the fact that most people have actually chosen to download the Full Version rather than the 7” single edit: The rate is 17 : 9 :7 (Full Version : Upgrade Patch : Radio Edit). Big downloads don't bother me. I would rather experience the level in all it's glory (as the designer intended) than a kurz version of it.and aplogies to Hokolo. The 15 meg was once the .toms were converted. IP: Logged |

playing it yesterday and today.... not finished.... don't you think it is too long? MAYBE you used too many textures with the same basic color, (and sadly only original textures).... most ambient were too similar.... BUT.... this is the best level until now I have played.... VERY beautiful the three opening/closing doors puzzle under water.... and VERY beautiful the secret with all those flame emitters....------------------ | |--->> psiko <<---| | IP: Logged |

@psiko:Too long...? I don’t know, honestly. Personally, I don’t think so, but then perhaps I know the level too well. I’ve been thinking a lot about the dramaturgy of the level, and I’ve been told by others that it is a success in that department; but of course other people judge differently. Anyway, the level is large, in fact in its present state it has reached the limits of texture memory as well as the limit of number of objects. However, it was intended to be much longer originally...in fact about twice the size it has now. Obviously, I had to break it up eventually in two parts; the bit that was supposed to follow (some kind of forgotten mine, an outdoor area, a church with a cemetery) is now going to be Part Two. You can tell that I’ve been a bit naive at the start as to the limits of the editor... As to the textures... Well, I ended up with using only three quarters of the textures I had in my TGA, the rest having been reserved mostly for the church’s exterior and interior. But that is not the point, I think; the point is rather that I’m walking the line between coherence and monotony. I didn’t want to apply wholly new textures at one spot or the other ‘just for a change’ and at the cost of coherence. I don’t know where you are now in the level, but what I intended to produce was a sort of feeling of relief when you eventually make it to the outside after a period of incarceration. But of course, there could have been used one or the other different texture, and especially customized ones or some of my own making. I have no excuse other than that I was too lazy for that. And I particularly disliked the thought of having to retexture whole parts of the level because I am very careful with applying textures, especially with avoiding making them look distorted or stretched. Any texture changes could easily result in another one or two month’s work. No way, quoth I. The same applies to ambience...The ambience is similar throughout the level intentionally. BUT the rooms have quite distinctive features nevertheless; you’ll never have to ask yourself whether you’ve been in that room before or not (that is, unless you have actually been there before ). That said, I’ll have to add that I’d never claim the level to be flawless; I know full well that it suffers from being my very first level (having undergone however many transmutations). However, if you still say that it is the best level you’ve played so far, I cannot have gone utterly wrong. IP: Logged |

The screenshots look awsome. I can't wait to play the level. I just finshed downloading it and it took me 4 minutes and 30 seconds. How fast are most of your internet connections. I have DSL but if I had my old 56K connection this probably would of taken 2 and a hlaf hours.IP: Logged |

***Update***When I recently updated my homepage, I took the opportunity to upload a savegame for Heroic Manliness v1.1, because I know of two instances in which players stood in front of a trapdoor that was closed although it should be open. It's not really a bug, the problem is simply that the trapdoor is heavytriggered by one of the flyby cameras, and if you prematurely quit out of the flyby that shows how the trapdoor opens, it will not be triggered, and the door will stay closed. (I simply forgot to "disable Lara control" in the flyby settings.) So, in case this happens to you and you can't go back to an earlier save, download this savegame, and you can continue the game. ***a service brought to you by Mulf Inc., suppliers of TR levels*** IP: Logged |
