I can't upload my new outfits because the WAD files are too big to put on a floppy and upload @ college. My computer @ home for some reason does not seem to have a 'nuff power to upload the files. How can I give more power to my computer? any downloads anywhere? anything I can buy or change. ANYTHING!! Help!! I won't be able to upload my MASSIVE new level either if no-one helps!I will do anything for it!! buy anything!!! whatever!! just help!!!!  ------------------

Well I got an external modem a while back and it changed my life!!  Also I got the gain on my phone line increased. ------------------

Lara have you tried DSL I have AOL and signed up for AOL's DSL service and it works great my upload and download speeds have increased big time you should try itIP: Logged |

Yeah, I was thinking about using FTP, but I don't know how to use it!! I am with Tinyonline (which is crap) but all the rest are way too expensive so it has to be that way!! BUT, I think all FTP programmes must be pretty much the same?? Can anyone help me use it?Lara .S. +++ ------------------

I have DSL and my parents pay $50 a month for it. The trnsphere rate in the Dialoge box has been up to 158KB per second. I downloaded 50 MB in 3 minutes one time. It is good.

Just a suggestion... Since the wads are normally 3 megs or so, why not use Winzip to put them onto floppy disks. It'll allow you to put them onto more than one disk. You can also make them self-extracting so that you can unzip them without having to have the program on the one at school. Just a thought??? Floppy disks only go up to 1.40 megs!!! The wads take up 1.80 or more!!!

What speed do get when you are just surfing the net? It should be around 4-5 kb a second. To test it double click on the internet icon ( the 2 flashing monitors in the right bottom corner of your screen) and see what it says. I had the same problem with my connection. It turned out to be a crappy phone line. Your downloads will be no faster than the speed of your connection. So a FTP program won't help you if it is a server or phone line problem. the Phone company said the lines are only guaranteed for 5 years. Have you plugged into someone elses phone line. If not i would try that. Or get a decent ISP. Like the one i am one now. I was just downloading a file at 220KB/sec. Took 1 min to d/l a 10mg file.------------------
