ok people, because this community has helped me out so much with level building, I wanna give something back to ya all!I'm going to start a project for listing all objecs from the level editor WADs and also all the TR4 WADs. The result of this project will become available on the web to help out level editors who are searching for just THAT object needed in their level. Level builders who are intrested in teaming up, please sign below and I'll send you full information about the project. It's gonna be a lot of work, so we need a lot of people who want to help other level builders out there! And ofcourse, the more people who sign up, the less work one man has to do. Ok, lemme hear from ya ------------------

What a splendid idea that is—however, a mere listing of items is not of great help, even if it had comments in it like “FURNITURE6...a column”. I’d opt for a list accompanied by images which show the objects’ texture, tint and size. That’s a lot of work but it would be really helpful. Count me in for yet another wad. IP: Logged |

nice for thinking of that, but that was acually my intentionally idea, to display a screenshot, so people can see with door or puzzle item will fit in their level I've made a start to show how the thing is gonna look when it's done, so await an e-mail soon ANY MORE TAKERS???? ------------------ Tomb Raider - Ancient Legends levels (2), textures, tutorials, wallpapers and other TR goodies on driber.cjb.net quote: --- I try to help out 5 people for every piece of good advise I get --- IP: Logged |

I'll help. I already have pics of most of the objects in all the wads except the Times Level (I haven't downloaded it yet)using print screen. Are you going to co-ordinate this so we won't all work on the same wad? Let me know what or which ones to do.

yes, I'll keep track who will do witch wad, so we won't do double work and also we all do the same amount of work I'm almost done with the first one, witch will function as the example for the others, so expect an e-mail soon! in witch wad(s) have you made screenshots of objects?

I think it is indeed of vital importance that this whole thing should be coordinated in order to avoid double and triple and multiple work; there should also be some guidelines as to what the images are supposed to look like.I propose that the images should be taken from the editor window via the ‘print screen’ function. The image shows the object in question next to a baddie or a block 3 clicks high (as Lara substitute) in the corner of an untextured default room (or a room with simple and contrastive textures) whose wall panels have a hight suitable for an easy assessment of the object’s size. The image should probably best be a 320x256 JPG. IP: Logged |

looks like you and I are on the same wave length on this, Mulf! Yesterday, I wrote a "guideline" as you call it, to make sure everyone uses the same method, otherwise the images will not go together. We're using a method of taking a screenshot from the level editor as you say, but only with the object, not any reference baddies or walls or something. This is done, because if we place Lara or a block next to every object, the file size of the whole project would rocket sky high! Remember that eventually, we're going to cover EVERY wad from TR4, so that's a lot of objects! So the screenshot background will be completely white. Mulf, I've sended you an e-mail yesterday with the full details and a example (tut1 wad), so check your mail Any more people who want to team up on this project? ------------------ Tomb Raider - Ancient Legends levels (2), textures, tutorials, wallpapers and other TR goodies on driber.cjb.net quote: --- I try to help out 5 people for every piece of good advise I get --- [This message has been edited by Driber_IF (edited 05-21-2001).] IP: Logged |

Hi Driber_IF,I would very definitely vote for a reference object in the image, as I think it’s really important that one can easily make out whether the column fits into a room seven clicks high or whether it’s twice that size... Anyway, I leave that up to you—but until now, there is no e-mail from you in my postbox. Just to make sure, the address is wurstsalon@gmx.de . IP: Logged |

Ah, I see...now that this is sorted out, the other problem was that yahoo.com was on my anti-spam hotlist. I have taken it from this list now for the time being, so it should work now.[This message has been edited by Mulf (edited 05-21-2001).] IP: Logged |

Hi Driber, I have shots of all the objects in all of the wads that came with the editor, Lil Kids page and from a site called Von Croy's Homepage which has some different ones than Lil Kid's. He'll probably have these too. They are split wads and I don't like it very much but the objects are there nonetheless. When I did this, it was for my own personal use so I didn't use a reference object for size. I thought if I liked the looks of an object I would just load the editor with that wad and see what it looked like. It is hard, as Mulf suggests, to tell how big some of them are. Here's just a suggestion.. could we maybe place an object in an untextured room that has the walls divided using the ceiling and floor +/- into 4 clicks each? We would have a background of different shades of green to tell us about how tall each object was. I'm leaving town for 2 weeks on Wednesday but I will check back with you when I return to see what wads you would like me to work on and how things are going in general. Please let me know the guidelines you settle on and I'll get to work when I get back. Just leave me an email on what to do. email... dale@siscom.netIP: Logged |
