Greetings, I've been attempting some cad work with Lara's mesh. I've gotten most of it figured out. BUT one thing in particular still seems to be eluding me (there are quite a few actually, but one at a time I guess). Anywho... I can't seem to figure out how to fill in areas that have been left empty when things are moved around. For example...
The seams are solid when I shade the thing in Rhino, and when it's textured in STRPIX, but not in game. And I cannot fill in that blasted little triangle! To make matters worse, I only have 17 saves left! Any help would be greatly appreciated

do you have the newest version of strpix 3? it should have the collosion info in it. That might be why you cant color it. Never had that problem. It works fine for me.------------------ Tomb Raiding Top Site List IP: Logged |

I don't think it's a collision problem, That unfinished triangle is more likely due to my ineptitude with Rhino. What I'm trying to do is remove the backpack. Everything else seems to be working fine in this project, except of course some texture work and a few more 'rough edges'. The picture isn't a very good one, but it shows where my trouble is. ------------------ IF YOU NEVER GROW UP, YOU'LL NEVER GROW OLD! IP: Logged |

DKSM, Rhino seems to be a really nifty tool. I've heard that it's expensive! Their freeware evaluation is sweet! Only partly 'cause it's free.Straight from the Rhino's ..... http://www.rhino3d.com/ You should be able to find it there pretty easy. Just in case you didn't see this earlier, It looks O.K. from the back directly, the profile view is what's hurtin'

hey bro I have recently done exactly what you're doing. I could send you the mesh as an example if you like. or you could use it your self if you choose. good going though, the biggest problem for most people is reimporting the mesh. in the mean time try this. on the left hand tool bar select polygon: center radius. now once you create this by clicking in a veiwport ( I think front or rear veiwport will be best). drag it to size. now line it up as best you can as to patch the hole. once this is done click on it so it is highlighted, and turn the control points on. (also left hand tool bar). now it's just a matter of dragging the control points into place, to line up your seems. let me know if you have any more trouble -rob ------------------ Home of the newest addition to Lara's motor pool! Rob, Again I say Thank you to you!(hence the new nick name). I'd appreciate the mesh if you wouldn't mind. Hate to waste all my saves on one project if I can't get it done with just a couple more by following your instructions. ------------------ IF YOU NEVER GROW UP, YOU'LL NEVER GROW OLD! IP: Logged |

I should have read your post more carefully let me add a couple of things. if every thing looks OK in rhino It may be a strpix prob. for example the front fender on my motor bike has a texture glitch. every thing is fine on it now, however when I tried rotating and moving textures around on the front fender a couple of textures disappeared. another thing to note: the 3D face only exists on one side of the polly. sometimes it will end up on the inside of the mesh. however you should be able to see this when you shade the viewport in rhino. Right, I've tried drawing polys, copying and rotating polys, etc... They always end up inside the mesh. Only in the shaded view in Rhino, can you see that durned hole (and in game). The seams I can probably just adjust the sides and back some more but....IP: Logged |

I have been experimenting in AutoCAD; 3DFACE command asks you to pick four corners; if you pick the corners COUNTERclockwise, the texture is on the outside; clockwise moves the texture inside...I hope this helps SOMEbody ------------------ How can I be dead already? IP: Logged |
