Okay, what if somebody edited Von Croy's mesh to look like lara and then made him (or her by that point) activate a switch? It would TOTALLY look like a cutscene, right? Nothin' FMV or fancy or anything, but it would work, right?------------------ DOWNLOAD MY NEW LEVEL, THE ICE AGE!!! http://www.geocities.com/tomb_raider_levels/ IP: Logged |

Just adding a note, if you had the tools you could make LARSON and PIERRE, although the actions would be somewhat limiting, and you couldn't fight them. It is a possibility though. Von Croy can shut doors aswell can't he? You could "dress him up" in LARSON or PIERRES clothing and make Lara chase them. This is a possibility, yes, good idea.IP: Logged |

I have an idea on how you make proper cutscenes....... but it would be totally out of the question of us making. All I've guessed is that you take a room, two (or more) characters, then assign them loadsa numbers and stuff, so a certain number would make lara tilt her head this way, or take out her guns like that..... then assign a fly-by camera and voices and voila!Of course its just a wild guess....... but elpaso your idea is pretty good. It's funny how just watching a fly-by of some soldiers guarding an area can really look like a cutscene..... heh IP: Logged |

We actually COULD shoot larson or pierre! Somebody would have reconstruct the mesh of some baddy (the millitary idiot from city.wad/newcity.wad would probably be the best because if somebody used the mummy dude, we would have larson stumbling around like some kinda retard making vomit noises!). I know nothing about meshes, except for the fact that it's possible. I don't know how, but it is!!!------------------ DOWNLOAD MY NEW LEVEL, THE ICE AGE!!! http://www.geocities.com/tomb_raider_levels/ IP: Logged |

yeah I think you could make some decent anims this way. one prob I foresee is the guard A.I. I could easily be wrong, but I don't think von Cory can open a door without use the heavy trigger method. from what I could tell, the original tr4 used non A.I. based anims for the in game cut scenes. when you saw von Cory taking a running jump that looked a lil better than his standard anim, or activating a switch to open a door, or set off a trap, I think these anims where called forth by a special separate script. however, if I'm right on this It still doesn't mean that you cant set up a work able scenario in the game engine using the new meshes, the right A.I., the box command, and creative camera angles to create a pretty good effect. once this is set up you could also let it run while taking rapid fire screen captures to compile frames. then open something like Jasc anim shop3 to string the frames together, save as AVI, open bink, and mix in sound, save as fmv. there are certainly possibilities here. -rob ------------------ Tools, Custom wads, Audio/Vidio, TRLE. Rob, I never said that this is how core did it, but this is how WE are gonna do it!Great ideas though, rob! But how would we save our bound rapid screenshots as an fmv file (.BIK, isn't it?)? ------------------ DOWNLOAD MY NEW LEVEL, THE ICE AGE!!! http://www.geocities.com/tomb_raider_levels/ IP: Logged |

I have more Idea's, (this would be tedious work) like importing the meshes into a cad, and texturing them. then say move lara's arm a hair. take a screen shot. move her arm a hair more, take another screen, and so on. the cool thing is, you can add much more detail to the mesh in a cad then the game engine could ever handle. so depending on how much work your willing to put in you could actually make here lips move, and sync in a voice over. of course 3D studio Max would be best for this, but it's too expensive for me, and there's no trial down load. regardless, the possibilities are there. -rob ------------------ Tools, Custom wads, Audio/Vidio, TRLE. Plus, we'd need a slutty young arisocratic brittish chick to do Lara's voice.Anyway, we can do it (except for the voice over). C'mon! We need to make a club, or something! We NEED to!!! The future of the TRLE community depends upon it! It holds the exit key to this little prison that eidos has built for us. If we don't escape, there will be a lotta incurably crappy sh** in our future. We have to at least try, and I am no mesh wizzard. So let's do everything we can to make this dream happen!!! Man, that was really apocoliptic!!! ------------------ DOWNLOAD MY NEW LEVEL, THE ICE AGE!!! http://www.geocities.com/tomb_raider_levels/ IP: Logged |

Rob & Elpa: if you can provide me those meshes in a format that 3D Studio Max can handle, like dfx (I thought) or, ofcourse, 3ds, then I'll send them to my niece, she's pretty good at 3D Studio Max and has done courses on the program I also have 3D Studio Max, so I might have a look toojust lemme know

i personally thinks that what makes a cutscene is lara in action. Shooting her guns, diving from unessisarily large cliffs, and at least a punch or a kick. No offense, but some guy running to pull a switch isnt very exciting.------------------ Raider of tombs Join My Top 100 Site List IP: Logged |

I hate to say this, conehead, but i agree. Lara pulling a switch is NOT very exciting at all, but it's probably the best we can do...------------------ DOWNLOAD MY NEW LEVEL, THE ICE AGE!!! http://www.geocities.com/tomb_raider_levels/ IP: Logged |
