Ok, we now have some 300 fan made levels available. I've got a project for some talented editor guru. How about you pick 15 or so GOOD levels, (mabe from Col and Michaels top 10 list) and write script & dat files to join them up as one large playable game. The object here is that as you finish a level the game drops you into the next level, with all pickups, ammo, guns, secrets etc from the proceeding levels. Now the hitch here is that some lvels at the end either drop you to the desktop or back to the beginning of that self same level, whilst others WILL take you to the next level in the list of whatever dat files you have loaded. I don't know how big a job this would be BUT it would br GREAT if someone could throw this together. I wonder then if you could cut it to disc and play from the disc?? Perhaps using the original Tomb4.exe file?? I don't know, just throwing things about for discussion. So guyz, whaddaya reckon?? Is it possible?? ------------------ IP: Logged |

torry the only way to do that would be to have the orgninal prj files because you have to change the finish trigger in the levels to point to the next one in the list I'll tell you what if you can put together 15 level prj files I'll do what you want just zip all required files tga's and all that and send them to me and you've got a dealIP: Logged |

Well I suppose I could pick 15 levels, and email the authors explaining what I want to do and ask for their prj files. However, they may not be happy providing them BUT how about their Tom files with the finish trigger corrected?------------------ IP: Logged |

Sounds good to me. You could even package the CD's with an installer which would load the levels onto the system as if you were installing The Last Revelation or Chronicles. It wouldn't be too hard, and would probably look very cool. I'd be more than happy to knock up an installer if you decided to go ahead with this.IP: Logged |

MissLara2U thanks. (or MrLara depending on which one of you 3 are using the logon today, LOL).That's a bonus, whoohoo. Well, tonight (I'm at the office at the mo, lol) I'll have a go at mailing the authors and see what kind of response I get. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yeah I should really do something about that now, but signing up a new username will render my post count zero. Talk about being stripped IP: Logged |

Hey Torry, the idea/request/discussion/whatever has been around a few times before - I don't want to constrain your energy to pursue this, just two watchouts: 1. Custom Level Authors are legally not allowed to make any profit with their levels, so linking a few together and burning them on a CD and selling (?) them would get you into trouble. Of course, somebody could provide them free of charge to the community with the consent of the respective authors 2. Many of the levels build on the fact that you start with an 'empty backpack', so depending on the sequence, some of the levels may have to be slightly redesigned apart from 'correcting' the finish trigger. Example: If you start my Blue Sphere Level with a Crowbar it is really only half the fun... Anyway, let us know how you progress with this. In Germany, Eidos is just now working on adding a selected list of Custom Levels on a CD that comes with a magazine (sold in 350.000 copies!), but they are not linked together, just the downloaded ZIP-files as they are on the net...this should really draw some further attention to all the great works of the level authors out there...

Hear ya Michael but don't want money, just want fun. Will haveta get the authors ok though and as you say, pick levels where it won't matter that you bring items forward.------------------ IP: Logged |
