I am already about... 5 to 10 percent into my second level and I was wondering what people really like in a level. Out of the following, what do you think is most important and most enjoyable? teeth spikes mummys. etc. detailed texturing traps [b]scary / frightening atmosphere[b] [b]other[b] ? ? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Puzzles and traps do it for me. Personally i,m not over keen on loads of enemies everywhere. A good atmosphere is great if you can achieve it,and flip maps can do wonders for a level when well used. Good luck...skibsy. IP: Logged |

Awesome puzzles, creativity, complex, detailed, and little something different that makes it stand out against all the other levels when it's slapped up on a site. Something that'll leave a mark, you know what I'm saying?Great luck!! ------------------ Rock on. 85 IP: Logged |

*X* Kathryn *X*, I believe the most important thing you can have in a custom level is originality. If you have already seen it done, then do not do it yourself. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I like levels where you have to go round and round. You know, to open the door right at the beginning you have to go around the whole level, looking for the piece of item to open that door. Just like The Lost Library level from TR4. IP: Logged |

I'm not particularly fond of secret areas, oddly enough. Mainly because I always like to think I'm making progress in a level, but when I hear that "secret" sound, I know I just took an unnecessary sidetrip.Do not overpopulate a level with enemies! Let's face it, TR does not have a particularly strong combat engine, so why highlight it? Traps are cool, but only if they're avoidable. Let the player see the trap in advance, and then figure a way around it. Don't hit them blindly. IP: Logged |
