I jus want to get peoples opinions on the Level editor, as mine are that if we don't get any new wads from other games in the near future, things will get very boring, i.e there's only a certain amount of levels i can play that have exactly the same objects. What do u think?IP: Logged |

I agree, I have only made a few levels, and I am already bored with what came with the levels. But I have been downloading new wads off the internet, and with Trwest the posibilities are endless. Em xxIP: Logged |

Well, it has been discussed many times and as Emma says with the new tools we are seeing more and more real custom levels with all sorts of unique modifications, but I have to say that by now I have played and reviewed more than 120 levels for my site and hardly any of these are really boring, so before assuming that, I would suggest you try some and then judge for yourself again...------------------ HAPPY RAIDING! Perhaps I should have said earlier that I didn't mean to put down any of the creators out and about these days, but what I meant was that there are only a certain amount of times you can jump forward, push switch, run back to door b, do you see what I mean? I think Tomb Raider (for me anyway) has run it's course, unless someone comes up with new ways of getting most of the wads from the series. I've been playing Tomb Raider for 5 years now, and with five games under her belt, I think it's time for Lara to take her final bow with the current gaming system. I will without a doubt buy TOMB RAIDER: NEXT GENERATION, because of it's (hopefully!) fresh and new way of using Lara. I just think that the current strategy has had it's time for me.IP: Logged |

Sometimes it does get a little boring. But I have seen some VERY good levels (and I haven't played that many) that really held my interest.I am working on a level. Actually, a 5-map level (why can't I ever take on small projects . I have some trap ideas that I haven't seen before. I am also building some structures that I haven't seen before, something very different. The trouble is fleshing out a map so it is big enough and keeps your interest. Just a series of traps and puzzles isn't enough, you need a little filler. I might be asking for a little help after I get the basic maps done. My point really is that there are still alot of new things that can be done, it just takes a little creativity. Ever scan a lizard? Some parts are photogenic IP: Logged |

I do understand what angle your coming from, but I find that with the current tools we are going to be limited to what we can create. The thing we need is time, but how much more? As I said, i've been "Raiding" for 5 years now, and I think thats plenty of time By the way, why don't core just relese the level editors for all the games?IP: Logged |

I don't really think there is much that you could do that is different from what is being produced with new objects and things from all the previous TR games, I mean in the way of traps we can burn her, spike her, crush her, shoot her, stab her, etc. already, in moves she won't jump any further, swing any higher, climb higher, swim deeper, etc., and a switch or lever or button all pretty much do the same thing so it isn't that exciting seeing one or the other, it comes down to the creators imagination purely and simply. I have played soooooo many levels (close to 160-170) similar to Mike and I still find new things, more and more beautiful structures (chinese pagodas, submarine bases, cabin cruisers, large twin arched bridges, gigantic caves full of exploration, and more), new enemies (just fought some giant scorpions......those boys are mean) and I still haven't come close to being bored. But yes there are some levels that are not as interesting as you would like but those creators given more time will hopefully put out wonderful levels with more practice, I have found though that custom levels on the whole are usually above par on gameplay and looks so maybe you should check them out! I'm split on this one; half of me wants to say 'if you're bored, then quit' and the other half wants to say 'you really haven't looked at all the levels out there' and the other half says 'if you're so bored, why don't you MAKE a level' and the other half says 'the level editor, combined with STRPIX and a nice CAD program leave the possibilities ENDLESS!! you can make any object, any texture, you can change Lara's hair, clothes, heck, even her body shape! If you're bored, you aren't trying!' but that's just MHO... ------------------ Darn that's the end!
