Topic: Who was as disgusted as I was on the 15th? (slight movie spoilers)

That movie could have been a LOT better. There were four major things wrong with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.1) Everyone kept calling her Laura, and I think Alex even called her Lauren! 2) AJ CAN NOT ACT!!! On top of that, she is so terribly ugly. Look at her lips! (Well, not that you need me to tell you that).
You remember the part where Lara's present meets her father's past? I think you were supposed to feel sorry for her then. Did you? I sure didn't. 3) Who wrote the script and how did they get the job?? Most people would like to see a movie with a * good * script. 4) WHERE THE CRAP WAS WINSTON?????!?!?!?!!? The movie was edited because it was to long!
And there was a butler in the movie. And why she shot the Triangle is because evil and good is not good so she shot it!IP: Logged |

i thought the movie was great and Angelina Jolie is my favorite actress, and she did a damn great job of protraying Lara Croft. . . who did you want to play her. . . The big lips look great. That's why I love Dark Angel, too. Very sexy. But then I'm a man.I did have problems with the movie, but overall it was at least filled with action and great scenery. IP: Logged |

Realy in the movie, Lara Croft is a tom boy because the smart computer guy that lives outside of Lara's house made her a tom boy. and why the butler wants lara to where a dress is because he never ever saw lara in a dress or a girl thing before. That funny. And her lips are funnyIP: Logged |

I did enjoy the movie but it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.I don't like the idea of silicon (or whatever) injected into lips. That big impression in the center (in my opinion) looks really stupid. Lara has worn dresses before. It's not *too* terribly shocking for cryin' out loud! Maybe AJ is a good actress. I haven't seen any of her other movies before, but I really didn't like her in TR. Her character seemed too... crappy. It was cool that she did most of her stunts (or all - I don't remember) and I liked all the action scenes because her character was perfect then. OK I just remembered something that has been bugged me when I saw it. Near the end when Alex fell into the water (which I might add would have been WAAAAY too cold for Lara to bear for that long, probably) she KISSED HIM!! Why would Lara do that? >:.P Although I usually never have a problem with romance, I couldn't believe that scene. I mean, SHE KISSED HIM! Lara has never been known to be in love, right? I don't think Angelina Jolie has any silicon.
The only other movie I saw her in was Hackers. She had the same big lips. That was awhile ago. She's grown up since then.
As for being in love, I don't know. There was obviously something between her and Alex, but I think it was in the past. Now they are rivals. There may still be some feelings, but I don't think she loves him.IP: Logged |

what's wrong with big lips? the real lara has big lips too, so i didn't see n e problem there...I was kinda disappointed by the plot and the story behind it all, but you got to admit it had some great action scenes.  Overall i think Angelina did a good job @ acting and the movie wasn't all that bad either. ------------------

how could you not like the movie unless you are not a true tomb raider fan anyone who has played the games (and beaten them) and who IS a true tomb raider fan would be as honest about the movie as anything else in their life with that said I thought the movie was great i think she should have gone after a third piece of the puzzle but hey what do i know except that the movie was GREATIP: Logged |

I'm in the UK (i hate you yanks for getting the film first, but i won't go into that right now. I'll just say that it's a BRITISH game and Lara is BRITISH and everything to do with TR is BRITISH so why release it all in USA first?)Anyway, i haven't seen the film yet (obviously) but i think AJ is a great actress. Especially in gone in 60 seconds and hackers... So i'll probably like her in TR too. And the so called "big lips" are her real lips. The only reason women get their lips injected with whatever it is, is because they have had their breasts done too. It's just to make proportions right and all that, but i think it looks dumb. But AJ's are real.
And about the butler... We all knew it wasen't going to be an old man that farted every 5 secs! That would just make the film a Mario-type one! (In otherwords, every other game that's been made into a film has sucked BIG TIME. Especially Super Mario. Reason? They copied the game WAY too much! How would you have liked the film if it had Lara running and jumping, shooting a few animals and then healing her self? Yeah, i'm sure that would be VERY exciting. NOT)
They made all these changes from the game to make it more realistic. And why do most people in the film call her Laura? BECAUSE MOST OF THE BLOODY CAST ARE AMERICAN! Not having a go at you guys, cos i'm sure you all say Lara, because you have played the game and you KNOW her! The actors in the film say that they played the games and got to know her really well, so the least they could do is GET HER FRIKKIN' NAME RIGHT!!!!!

I thought Jolie did a pretty good job. I wanted Sandra B. but I liked AJ. I agree with the butler part though. SORRY PEOPLE I know it's petty but I wanted the old man. I have a personal liking to the old dude so I wanted to see him. Plot was fine don't know what your prob there was. As far as you keepin your comments to yourself, that's bull ****. I think you have every right to say what you wish so if you said Jolie should have gotten raped up the anal canal. I'de still respect your opinion. Bit over all, I enjoyed the movie. TRLI didn't even think about the fact that Lara was Brit so why not show the movie their. Now that I think about it, it kind of upsets me. I'm a yank myself. (never understood why that's a bad slang...yank) anyways. I think it would have been apropreate(can't spell) to show the home grounds of the character. As for the cast that made the movie. I believe that a large portioin of the cast was English. The man that made the movie himself is British. At least, thats what I thought. But as far as who sees it first. I think you should have. Rimmer - er, Chris Barrie did a great job. He's never been in a movie before, and to jump into a never-before seen character is extremely difficult. And I mean really, who goes to the movies to see old butlers?! There's Lara, boom! bang! epileptic seizure action sequence! pan the camera and there's...a 70 year old butler? no. sorry people. While I was slightly disappointed immeadiatly after the movie, it actually does have a bit of an aura to it, the atmosphere of lara's fast-paced, larger-than-life, but slightly sad and lonely world. The only regret that I had was that Chris should have shot a few of the special forces, kinda like trinity to neo, but without the highkicks. Also, simon should have kicked into life and tossed a few badguys too.IP: Logged |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognized Rimmer. What a role reversal!!! I think he did a great job, considering who he used to play. But I, too, wish he had nailed a few of the bad guys. He was dressed for it.
But Simon? He really served no purpose that I can see. He did nothing for anybody.As for being seen in the US first...nyah nyah Sorry, I couldn't resist

And furthermore that's just unsubstanciated rumoring, and there is no reason to believe a person can't have big fluffy lips, heck, i got them!!!

Not to be talking about something i dont know much about, but the origanal director DID get fired. Since the film he created was so horrible. So the new director only had about 1 month to totally redo the movie. So they deserve ALOT of credit. Okay let's put this to rest AJ's lips are natural, all you need do is look at her brother who accompanied her to the Academy Awards and you can see it is a hereditary trait!I'm going to see the movie in a couple of days (was supposed to be tonight  ) and I know without a doubt I will love it for the mere fact that I love Lara and anything to do with her. The movie started in Portugal on the 22 of June and I went to the cinema to see it.
It was even better than the Mummy.------------------

ok, people, let's get something real clear: Lara Croft is video game heroine, so therefore, she is meant to be played on a video game. not to be in the movies. face it: all video games to movies suck, take mortal kombat. need i say more. yes, i have seen the movie. it was okay, but i dont think that any actress alive could capture lara's true personality. to tell you the truth, i was totally dissopointed with the movie. lara croft didn't feel like lara. that's all i got to say.IP: Logged |

Ok - movie finally started in Germany last night and of course I had to go to the premiere and I have to say I am with raven (at least most of the comments). It is a visually impressive movie, AJ is great, action sequences above average (though I have seen better), they did use Lara's German voice as in the game and that worked out great. And I really enjoyed how they did sort of slip in so many of Lara's game moves (flips, flares, runs, walking, Uzi, the bike, the jeep,...), BUT: the script feels a little like the game, as if it would go through Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, which for a movie does not work very well IMHO and I sort of left the cinema thinking: 'Yeah, great movie, but something was missing' Anyway, I guess I will go see it again and would definitely recommend it to every TR Fan!

I liked the movie quite a lot, but I think I missed something in the plot: Why did Lara have to destroy both pieces of the triangle? If she destroyed just one, the two halves couldn't be rejoined, right? I must agree with Powell here, my ignorance amuses me. IP: Logged |
