Hey y'all! Im new here and haven't yet looked back to see if anyone has already asked this...but....I'll ask anyway. In Tomb Raider (the first) there is that room with the fire puzzle where flames are triggered by a pad, and only stay off for a limited amount of time...I've been having problems trying to put a timer onto flame emiter 3 using the lever switch, so that the light flames only stay on for a limited amount of time. Plz help!!The other thing I was wondering was...is there away off getting rid of the invisible barrier that is on one side of a door as this is really buggin' me. Thanx, vi! IP: Logged |

If you want the flames to stay on for a set time then go out forever, enter the amount of time in seconds in the timer field for the SWITCH trigger. If you want a delay before the flame comes on, enter a MINUS number in the timer field for the switch trigger (I.E. -5).Which room are you referring to in to TR1......If its the one in the "Palace Of Midas" level then I can send you a demo .PRJ to show you how its done... As for the door problem, no ideas there, sorry. However, doors thst have been borrowed from other WADS using TRWEST dont seem to have this problem? ------------------ I WAS PRESSING THE DARN WALK BUTTON !! You could try typing 999 into the ocb for the door. It works for the Eye of Horus door. (the big one in the tutorial level) It enables Lara to go back through the door once it has opened. Hope this helps, Em xxIP: Logged |

I think i know what your problem is. try turning the door around 180 degrees. i have had a lot of problems with that, and i think i figured it out. tell me if it works.IP: Logged |

Got this from someone on the net, guess it was from Theresa (Tombraiders.com)Timed Flame_Emitter - Turning the flames on: Here is what I did. I placed three flame emitters on three platforms. I placed triggers for all three flame emitters in a spot where Lara enters the room (she can only pass over the triggers once - for example, place triggers on a ramp). This turns on all three flame emitters when Lara enters the room. Turning the flames off: Next, I placed simple triggers for all three flame emitters under a lever. When Lara flips the lever, the flame emitters which are on, turn off. (Kind of acts like an antitrigger) If Lara flips the lever the other way, the flames turn back on. Timed flames: So far, the flames are turned on when Lara enters the room. Lara can turn the flames off with the lever. Now we need to have timed flames. I needed all three flame emitters to be timed the same way, or Lara might fall off a platform and then 1 or 2 flame emitters might be on, and there would be problems. On the first platform with the flame emitter, I placed triggers for the flame emitters on the other two platforms. Finally, I added a timed trigger for the flame emitter for the first platform on top of the other two flame emitter triggers. To keep the flames from starting when Lara lands on the platform, I entered -5 for five seconds into the trigger's Timer field and pressed the Enter key. This delays the flame from starting for 5 seconds. When Lara reaches the first platform, the top trigger which is the timed trigger for the first flame emitter is triggered. Once the 5 seconds has past, the underlying triggers for the other platforms are triggered, so all of the platforms start on fire at the same time.
Other Way to Make Timed Flames -
Set up a flame emitter
Trigger it anywhere for burning Place a same trigger with a negative number in the timer on a place where lara have to pass, the flames go off. (for instance -10 gives and delay of ten seconds) As long as lara is on that trigger the flames stay off, as soon as (that's what I think) she gets off the trigger square the timer starts and after 10 seconds the flames are on. To start over she have to go back to that trigger square. The use of a switch encounters a problem because a switch trigger and a trigger with a timer are special and so can't overlap. I tried it with lever_switch_1

Phabius.... to use a timer with a switch.... enter the time in the switch trigger NOT in the timer field of trigger under the switch. Only problen then, is you need access to both sides of the lever switch to reset .....------------------ I WAS PRESSING THE DARN WALK BUTTON !! IP: Logged |

Hi Vivi! Welcome! Yeah, about the door, it HAS to be in a different room, the room you want to go into. The door cannot be in the same room.IP: Logged |
