I imported ceiling trapdoor from city.wad(revised) to tut1.wad, Then I put it in my level(without triggers) and converted it to *.tr4. In the game, Lara could pass through it(maybe because I didn't put a trigger), and when I jumped and grabed the trapdoor to open it, the game crashes. Am I doing something wrong, or is it TRWest? ------------------ Keep visiting Tomb Raider Level Editing: IP: Logged |

tut1 probably doesn't have the animations required for opening the trapdoor, you probably have to make a new wad based on the (revised) city or newcity wads if you absolutely want to use that trapdoor. Or else, replace the Lara objects in your wad with those from city or newcity.IP: Logged |

Oh, I forgot:Rather than experimenting with the tut1 wad, shouldn't you be working on the TR3 Antarctica outfit? [This message has been edited by Mulf (edited 07-04-2001).] IP: Logged |

you must place a ceiling door and place the ceiling trapdoor in that ceiling door. i ''had'' the same problem. It should be working fine now.

No, Jeffrey has probably given a pointer towards a much easier solution for your problem. The point is that if you place the CEILING_TRAPDOOR in your project, it has to be placed on the ceiling of the room below and not on the floor of the room above. Also, it has to be exactly level with the ceiling. I completely forgot about it, but I had this problem myself a while ago. I put the ceiling trapdoor in my level, then later I made some changes to the floor that caused the trapdoor to go one click up (no longer level with the ceiling), and that in turn caused the game to crash when I approached the trapdoor. Well, I tryed that thing of the same height of the ceiling, and Lara can still pass through the ceiling trapdoor, and the game still crashes. Any sugestions? Now I'm having problems with floor trapdoor too. Lara can pass through it, and she doesn't even try to open it.------------------ Keep visiting Tomb Raider Level Editing: IP: Logged |

I've been trying somethings with the city wad, and I realised that the problem isn't in the animations or in TRWest, the problem is me, I'm doing all this wrong. I've been examinating the city.prj and noticed that the floor trapdoor is in the room bellow of the one from where it's going to be opened, so I think that's the problem, because I put it in the same room from where it would be opened. Am I right, or wrong again? ------------------ Keep visiting Tomb Raider Level Editing: IP: Logged |

I figured this out to night. The trap door must not be in the room where it is being triggered. It must be on the floor in the room above. I believe the same to be true about it being on the roof under the room where it is to be triggered, at least this worked for me.------------------ Top 5 Favorite sayings: -Never give-up! unless the situation is hopeless:) -The only thing certain in life is uncertainty! -You get what you pay for. -Nothing is impossible, it's just not likely to happen. -If it doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger. Netslider, if you don't trigger the CEILING_TRAPDOOR (as it isn't suppose to be triggered), it doesn't matter where you place itOn the floor of the top room or on the ceiling of the bottom room, it works both ways check your e-mail, I've sended you a project that shows how it's done however, the point jeffrey, Mulf and Pwhirl were onto DOES count for the TRAPDOOR1, that one has to be placed on the ceiling of the bottom room ------------------

did you had any dependancy errors with TRwest when creating your wad?that's why my game crashed at the end of the level, so I had to rebuild the entire wad again, then it was fixed

well, FLOOR_TRAPDOOR1 from the library wad doesn't have an animation dependancy, so as far as I know, you can savely add or remove that objects, so the problem must be somewhere elsetry loading your project, then load the objects of the original wad you started with and (delete any triggers for objects not found), output to a room wad, build the tr4 file and see if the game still crashes if it's not crashing, you should rebuild your custom wad again and be carefull not to run into any dependancy errors and try to save the wad anyway, that will make your wad corrupt good luck!

Still crashes. I must say that I'm not using any kind of triggers, in the level I just put Lara, and floor_trapdoor1 in a single room. What do I need to do?------------------ Keep visiting Tomb Raider Level Editing: IP: Logged |
