I'm having trouble with largish files on the net. I have a computer that isn't hooked up to the net and one that is. I want to get some files off the net onto my off net computer. I don't have a link and my only way of transferring files is via floppy disks. I am aware that there are programs that can split files into seperate bits (eg, 1.44 MB bits). I don't know the name of any of these programs so I find it difficult to locate them on the net. Please could someone direct me to either the name of such a program or the site. Thanks for any help.

Winzip will do that. You can do disk spanning with it.

You really should have this program. A lot of files and TR fan levels including mine are Zipped.

Or get a direct parallel cable...it looks like a printer cable but it connects two computers via their printer port then you can use Direct Cable Connection to link them, you need to make sure you have IPX protocols set up in Network Settings and you're sorted. It transfers at about 200Kb/sec (much quicker than a floppy drive)

You could also setup a serial port connection between the machines, using a null modem cable. Then do standard files transfers using xmodem, ymodem, or something like that. (I know, it's old-fashioned technology, but it does work).
