Actually, it's even the Antarctic (I used a copy of my current project file for this little experiment. There will be no dinosaurs in it, but it will have an appropriately wintery Lara model.)It's only a teaser, I wouldn't recommend using this dinosaur in your respective levels, as it suffers from the common flaws of animated objects extracted from wads of games other than TRLR. It was actually a kind of surprise that the T-Rex not only showed up after converting the level, but also moved fluidly without merely getting stuck in the next wall, and it even makes the ground tremble when it walks. On the other hand, some of the textures are wrong; in the second image, you can clearly see the wrongly applied triangle on the head, and some body parts (like the lower jaw, as can be seen in the third image) have Lara's skin texture on them. If this seems negligible to you (as it could perhaps be mended with strpix), there are (as usual) some more severe drawbacks. One is the sound, because it doesn't produce any sounds except when it falls to the ground (in which case it sounds like a large trapdoor closing). This is not to say that Lara can kill it; just like the dinosaur won't hurt Lara, no weapon has any effect on it. Sometimes, however, the object unexpectedly displays the drop-dead animation instead of another, perhaps instead of an attacking animation. And it is, of course, insubstantial; Lara passes right through it because collision detection is non-existant. Bottom line: It's merely something to look at, nothing to put into your level; that's why I didn't care to upload the wad. Besides, you can easily do it yourself by extracting the Crash Site wad with TR2WAD and then placing the objects in suitable slots with TRWEST (for the T-Rex, SCORPION and CROCODILE seem to work best). It's as easy as that. Getting the object to function properly, however, is quite a different thing. If at all possible, this would require a skilled programmer with a lot of spare time, and I, unfortunately, don't meet these requirements. IP: Logged |
