I've got one of those problems where the level editor won't load now, and the problem is that everytime now when I open it, it gives me an illegal operation error message that says: WINROOMEDIT caused an invalid page fault in module WINROOMEDIT.EXE at 0177:00445573. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=0177 EIP=00445573 EFLGS=00010286 EBX=00000000 SS=017f ESP=0082fd70 EBP=00400000 ECX=ffffffff DS=017f ESI=00000006 FS=4cbf EDX=00000000 ES=017f EDI=00a54240 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 10 8d 4c 24 0c 6a 01 51 6a 01 50 ff 52 50 50 Stack dump: ffffffff 3f800000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00444458 00000000 00000000 0082fe38 00720000 fffffffc ffffffe9 00000404 00000304. Then I looked in the level editor folder and I found out the problem and problem was that script and english.dat turned into a wordpad file. How do I change it back to normal again. I would appreciate any help from anyone. Thanks! Greetz, Stripix IP: Logged |

All that means is you opened a .dat file with wordpad and made it the default application. It shouldn't have any affect on winroomedit.Anyway, I didn't think winroomedit cared what was in the script files. Does it ever look at them? IP: Logged |

I think it still has to do something with the script and english.dats because I can't even play the game, or do anything. This is weird because I didn't mess around with anything that has to do with the level editor files. I never had this problem before. Also even when I download a level the script and english.dats turn into a wordpad file. This is weird. How can I fix this problem? Oh, and I know I never opened a script or english.dat from wordpad.

If you open any .dat file at all and don't uncheck "Always use this program to open this file" then every .dat file will show as a wordpad file. But, you can change it back. On Win98, open My Computer, then on the menus select View->Folder Options. Click the File Types tab. Then just scroll down to DAT file and remove it. Someone else had this problem recently, and I think it turned out to be a read-only file. You might check that. IP: Logged |

hellothereis a problem with the script.dat files. the same thing happened to me. you should save your work in another folder. ( away from the trle directory) and then uninstall and re install the editor. then move your files back to the place(s) where you took them from. Whastever you do do not use the script.dat or english.dat files until you have got the version that works. there is a place where you can download it. not sure where though trguru

Alright, I fixed the script and english.dats but I still keep on getting an illegal operation when I try to open the editor even after I reinstall it, and I still can't find out the real problem is. Well, anyways right now I deleted everything and I'm running scandisk before reinstalling it again. Could that fix the problem?Greetz, Stripix IP: Logged |
