Topic: Cut scenes and FMV's, any1??

I reckon it is possible to add fmv's at least to our levels. First, we have to see how they insert it in the script (.tr4 4 cut-scenes, and .bik 4 fmv's), so if we get the script.dat file from say the last revelation, and convert it back 2 .txt, we can see how they insert the FMV's, and maybe what format it is. Then we could make a tool to convert .avi to .bik, insert it in the script and voila!!IP: Logged |

Ask Eidos...or Core...But I believe it's because the FMV commands are to be built into the .exe - meaning that once it sees the FMV bit of the script, the .exe will handle the launch. Just a guess ... EZ The editor tomb.exe does NOT include calls to bink libraries (something like bink32.dll) .As I said in a previous message TRLE tomb.exe does include those calls...but when you play (maybe I have to say when I play) custom levels with the TRLE engine the sound is really crappy. or rather to stop people from making their own TR gameface it, we can only create levels and THAT'S it! we even have to stick to a wad to build with, so all the tools for making your own TR game has been hold back

Ye, I'm quite talented, but I've never really tried any Tomb Raider stuff. well, if you try hard, you could fake a quick cutscene - like a flyby camera flying round to look at laras face, then an enemy, then back at lara, while a conversation is going on, could work. i mean, you have the same effect at the beginning of "race for the iris" in TLR.------------------ simon! heel!! Yep, I have done that quite a bit, and if you use, say, the guide for lara to talk to, you can put AI points down and make him move and stuff. It'd be great if you could do that with Lara, maybe thats how they do the cutscenes, with animation points and stuff. yes, that's how it's done, im sure. try triggering a flyby that only contains one camera with lara controll off. it will loop constantly, and force you to crash tr, but the screen will change to the cutscene letterbox size! (that's how they are triggered, im sure.) i said as much in a separate thread, and it is useless so far as I see.IP: Logged |

Couldn't we take the "Tomb4.exe" file from the origional TR4 game and install our levels into it, change the title, change the script, change title.tr4, and then put cutscene and fmv triggers in our levels? It would only be like, one extra meg in a level zip! C'mon, the LE community exists on the ability to stretch the limits (jliboy's wads, michael's tr2wad, pascal's strpix, etc.). Umm, ye, that may work, but even then we don't know exactly how they make the cut-scenes in the first place. I reckon its by using special triggers, but who knows???
