I'm having trouble with the Bird Blades that come in the Karnak wad. They work fine but they don't make any noise when the blades come together. I mean, they don't make any noise at all. Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of the scary blade thing (You can hear them but don't know where they are) I've read up about adding sounds in the manual, but it might as well be written in French (although I understand French better than the manual!) So if anyone could explain to me how to get the Bird Blades to make any sound at all then I would be most gratefull. (Plus it saves me having to print the whole manual off just so I can tear it up into a million little pieces and set light to it whilst dancing naked around a camp fire!) Thanks guys and gals, Em xxIP: Logged |

If they don't already make a sound, you could try the following. Go to the 'Effects' pull down menu and click on 'sounds'. This will open a window. In the window you will notice a list of sounds. Scroll down till you see one for the bird blade and click on it and the click OK. You will notice your arrow cursor has a little pic of a speaker. Just place the speaker near to the bird blade and click to place it. If this doesn't work, I don't have any other ideas.------------------

dhama, what you suggest is not going to work, because any sounds taken from the effects menu must be associated to the wad, and if the bird blade doesn't make a sound, it's not in the wad. So I'm afraid there's no way to avoid doing what the manual says. The most difficult thing, however, is probably finding out which sound is connected to the bird blade. If you're lucky, the sound you look for has "blade" in its name ("bird blade" doesn't exist though).I'd suggest you open the sounds.txt—after making a backup copy—and enter "#h" (for karnak) to each item that has "blade" in its name. Then go to DOS prompt, go to the sounds directory, or LevelSFXCreator more specifically, and enter "pcwadsfx karnak h". This creates two new files (karnak.SAM and another one, I forget) in the LevelSFXCreator directory. Move them into the wads folder, replacing the old ones. Then open your project and create a new .tr4 file. Hopefully your bird blade produces some sounds now. If that wasn't in any way clearer than the manual, I'm sorry. But unfortunately it is a bit complicated when you try to edit sound for the first time. IP: Logged |

Thanks for pointing that out Mulf, I wasn't 100% sure it would work anyway. IP: Logged |
