I ended up having to reinstall Windows Me and my sound card drivers. It totally screwed up my system. I recommend Norton AntiVirus 2001, it automatically checks itself for updates when you're online and updates its virus definitions. It checks all online content for viruses and all email attachments too. If you find a virus you can quarintine it if repair doesn't work. This locks it up so it can't do any damage. I totally recommend Norton Antivirus 2001. Also, you can make rescue disks where just incase you can't start your comp, you can start it from DOS with only 5 floppies!------------------ http://www.geocities.com/hicho15/Lpage.html IP: Logged |

The name of the virus is SirCam. It runs through MS Outlook as a worm and if you download the attachments, the actual virus hides itself in the Recycle Bin, where must scanners don't look. It attaches a file to the Recycle Bin that takes up the rest of your harddrive. Then it will send copies of a random file (possibly confidential) and send it to every address in Outlook, creating a privacy breach. It also can completely erase your harddrive (1 in 33 chance). This is a *very* dangerous virus, and it's not a hoax because it has been investigated by SARC and there was an interview with one of the people in SARC.The subject of the message is "Whitecap" and there are two file attachments. I had that virus. I deleted it and I had to run my restore disk because my comp wouldn't start our shutdown.------------------ http://www.geocities.com/hicho15/Lpage.html IP: Logged |
