Sounds weird to me...... they do however have a habit of running around like headless chickes if placed in "tight areas". if you want to keep him on one spot, place an AI modify nullmesh on his square (no trigger required).

Nono, it's worse than that - i place the sas guy while in the editor, and then when I place his trigger, he disappears, and i never left the editor. The object just blinks away.

I click on the sas guy. I click on 'place object.' I click on a square. The sas guy appears. I click on him to highlight him. I click on another square. I check to see if the trigger is set for the sas guy. I click the purple trigger button. The trigger appears, and the sas guy instantly disappears.

well there you have it. It's never happened before...

output the level, convert it and play it... see what happens...... then let us know.

Btw.... click on the trigger in the 2d map(top right) and then hit trigger to object(above the lighting panel). if the SAS guy is really not there you will get an error message saying so!

That is incredibly wierd. I outputted the the level, played it, and sure enough, the sas guy did not appear. But after a 2nd reboot, the problem is gone. Very wierd.
