I have created a wad with TRWest and it loaded ok. It uses 14 tex pages out of 16. I made a room just to test it out. I saved my level as prj file and then I went to output the wad but my wad wasnt there so I just typed in the name of the wad I made and it worked. Then I went and took the tom file and made a TR4 file, but when I load the game I dont see my level in the start menu. What did I do wrong or better yet what didnt I do.?.....somebody please help me out.

You need to add your level into the script and english files. Firstly, open up the script and coppy a block of information from one of the other levels and then add it in where you want your level to appear. Make sure you change the name of the level to your own and also at the bottom of each block it has the name of the wad. Make sure you delete this and type your own. Then open up the english file and pick one of the levels that your not using and type your own level exactly as it appears in the script. Then save them both and do the relevent dos commands etc and that should work. if your not sure what the dos commands are let me know. Hope this helps.IP: Logged |

sorry to bother you, but i'm using trwest for the first time. I'm planning on modifying the tiles in photoshop and then convert them using trwest. Can you just simply replace the whole TGA (ie: London.tga) with a modified version and just run it? Or do you have to do all that script/english.dat stuff too?IP: Logged |

Try doing this. This is a tutorial I found somewhere. We’re now going to correct some things in a batch file. Again using Windows Explorer, navigate to the “trle\Script” folder. You’ll notice a file named “Script.bat.” Right-click this file and select “Edit” from the pop-up menu. You need to change two lines by removing the “\” characters. When done, the text should read... script script.txt copy script.dat .. copy english.dat .. del script.dat del english.dat del strings.h When you have it like this, save it back onto itself. Also, if you’d like to do away with some annoying errors that will display on your screen, again edit the “Script.txt” file that’s in the “trle\Script” folder. You’ll find a section that looks something like this... [Language] File= 0,ENGLISH.TXT File= 1,FRENCH.TXT File= 2,GERMAN.TXT File= 3,ITALIAN.TXT File= 4,SPANISH.TXT File= 5,US.TXT File= 6,JAPAN.TXT File= 7,DUTCH.TXT Change the word FRENCH, GERMAN, ITALIAN, etc. so that each line has ENGLISH instead of the other languages. When you have it that way, save it back onto itself.

Also when makeing a completly custom wad I use the starter script for TRwest. You load the script and it has the required stuff. Then you just add to it.you can douwnload the starter script here: http://freeload.homestead.com/_ksi0701961577069782/bobtombraider2/files/Starter.zip You could just have an animation dependency problem.

Ok I did Everything you just wrote but I still get the following error when I try to open the setup tomb4 icon, but the editor opens with no problem. What can I do to fix this?TOMB4 caused an invalid page fault in module TOMB4.EXE at 015f:00471fe3.

NO,no,no I went through all the animation problems before I output the wad in TRWest, and I even used it to build a test room. I can still go into the editor and use it now, but when try open the game directly or if I go through the setup icon I get the error. This wasnt happening till I edit the script files, so something went wrong or I did something wrong but I folled everything step by step just as a saw it.......HELP!IP: Logged |
