Put the levels on hold for the moment to test object design. I started to build a generic TR3 Lara from scratch, so as to reduce texture count and as you can see she reflects light and glows now. Her pony tail is gone.
The textures need cleaning up a bit,
but WHADDAYA think?

Here's the object info again:
----

If you are going to use non-TR4 outfits here's
a list of problems I found so far.
If you know how to fix any of them lemme know!

1) Character glow and light reflection stops.
Meaning her body colour copies the light of the ROOM and not the lights IN the room.
So if you have a dark room, Lara will be black. If you darken your rooms instead with shadow lights, it helps.
I think someone said you could use STRPIX rev2 to fix this but how? It doesn't seem to work although strangely, altered
BADDIE textures still accept light/reflection.

2) Pony tail animation error, thus you have to delete it by using transparent textures.

3) here's the biggie:
Textures for the TR4 outfits are compacted and shared/linked. Bringing in outside tr2-3 Lara textures means those textures will
get doubled, tripled or quadupled. Because they are not linked to your original file.
Adding at least 600-800k to your graphic wad!!
2048 is your limit before texture overload.
Meaning you can hardly import other objects
before you go over the limit.
Trying to get those said TR2-3 outfits to share the TR4 ones IS A NIGHTMARE.
Extract a BMP out of your WAD to see for yourself: the same textures being repeated over and over again.

4 - you will notice an tiny error in all tr4 wads ne of the lara objects is using the TR3 LARA HEAD!
Again a waste of texture space and memory.
Which is something you have to worry about al l the time if you want lots of objects in your game: Data crunching.

I prefer the TR3 lara to TR4 lara because when you stand them next to each other you notice TR4 lara has a fat head.

Mamma mia!! Let's go dancing!

Mirai, I haven't started to use or create custom WADs because (selfishly but perhaps sensibly) I am waiting for everyone else to find the bugs first (I'm trying to focus all of my spare time on completing my level)..

Therefore I am unable to offer any suggestions for the current problems you have encountered but.. I just wanted to say hello and to thank you for the privilege of playing your exquisitely beautiful and awe inspiring 'Grand Lodge / Dark Lair' level.

Playing your level was both a depressing and positive experience for me. Depressing, because you have raised the standard so high and this makes me realise that I have been 'dumbing down' my own work.. positive, because it gives me something to aim for.

In the meantime and from now onwards, I look forward to your next release.

Best wishes,

WBM

WBM...

Heathrow airport? that bit is really funny.

Glad you got some inspiration.
It's really great that a lot of TR makers
have a high attention to sense and detail.
But that's probably also a major fun part of TR: The level atmosphere.

Cheers
MIRAI

BTW.I am also from London

TRT, that looks soooo cool!
first thing I noticed (ofcourse, I'm still a guy, well this month anywayz) were those huge jugs, my eyes were fixated for 10 minutes (and they reminded me of some other jugs too )

seriously though, very nice, I think we dressed Lara up as almost everybody now
(allthough I still prefer Gabriel, hehehe)

Driber, strange thing, those jugs remind me some other jugs, too. They look so naturalistic and alive

TRT, I think she’d look georgeous with a whip!

before I get THWACKED by a big fish from the female members, I noticed Core used pencil drawings for Lara's skin, and not photo scans,
so with a little help from my girlfriend I errrrrr......

anyway....ahem...cough...cough.
I finished the textures today.
I also tried to make her skin more dirty
(from fighting) but decided to scrap that although it looked okay, it made her look a bit old.

pe@ce
MIRAI

ps. Unfortunately no whips but you can make a candle with the torch object ...cough...cough...what am I saying!?!?!

Alright steady on chaps..

For those of you who wish to see Lara with a whip, she may be able to borrow Indiana Jones' if she asks nicely. If I recall correctly, he won't be needing it anymore..

Remember that there are children in this lovely forum of ours so if you want to build little dungeons and things for Lara to play with, do it in the privacy of your own homes.

ok, I'll quit it for now, before WBM gets a load of letters from angry parents

but seriously, when can we expect to find that outfit up for download?

I got a question for you? Where are levels one 2 - 8. You have levels 1 and 9 I was just wondering, and also you should make a level with this new outfit.
