I just want to tell that the cutscenes from TR4&5 are NOT in the wad files. I decompressed the cutseq.pak to cutseq.bin and placed it in the tr5 demo and it has the animations from tr4! Only it crashed cause TR5 has 14 cutscenes more then tr4.

So...where must they be..if not in the wad file? Because in the LE there is a trigger for cuts!!! Can they be in the exe file..or where else?

if you look in the script file...

[PSXExtensions]
Level= .PSX
Cut= .CUT
FMV= .FMV

[PCExtensions]
Level= .TR4
Cut= .TR4
FMV= .BIK

cut scenes are .tr4

i am gonna have a look at the tr4 cd but im gonna have to buy it. cut scens should be in the data\ folder. its like this on the tr2 cd its got the levels and the cutscenes in .tr2 format in the same folder.

I have this feeling that we can't make cut scenes, and that the only reason that they left the trigger in is because they released the editor as it is. If we need another program to make the cut scenes with, then maybe they will release it to fill the gap before the new TR comes out next year.

What I know is the in TR3 the cut files where in normal levelfiles (seperated) and in TR4 it changed-there I can't find any other *.tr4 files!

they must be in the LE (befor Eidos cut the eggs away from our LE[do you know what I mean?])

the trigger in the ankgor wat file says trigger (0) cutscene 5 ..
that could mean they could be in 1 .tr4 file

This is no news to me unfortunately

I have been researching cut-scenes for months, and all the research leads to the fact that they are sort of packed into the .exe file, but triggered by the cut-scene trigger. The fact they are .tr4 is still a mystery. There must be a seperate piece of software, thats all, and animation editor. Which, by the way, I think we could make.

I think that the ability to make Cutscenes WAS in the LE! So the Cutscenes can't be in the wad files and must be in the tom and tr4 files!
Or they had on totally other option like load Cutscenes made with 3D max stuio!!!
But even I we would have an Cutscene-editor the most of us couldn't use it because to make anims are too difficould!

But I hope that michel fint a solution!

The Cutscenes are in the cutseq.bin..
And that's basically that.
TR1-3 loaded cutscenes via levels in the "Cuts" Folder.
Oh and Michiel.. One of these day's i'd love to take some time out and talk with ya. ^_~

Frm what I got, those are like minimini levels that are used as scenes for the cutscene themselves. It might be possible that the movement for animating the figures are in the same place as the usual animation but to be played and no keyboard input accepted (except the Esc key)

I extracted a Lara from a TR3 cutescene as an Animating in TR2WAD and then triggered her. She did all the animations, but was a nullmesh dummy.

In Chronicles, I was at the end of STREETS OF ROME, and I had the revolver drawn when I picked up the Sign of Saturn. In the cutscene, it was still drawn, but Lara draws her pistols in this one. When she put them back, they dissapeared and were replaced again by the revolver. In TR1-4, this didn't happen. It was always pistols, even if you had magnums or the desert eagle before. I havn't tried the gun mix-up in other cut sequences, but wouldn't that mean that cut scenes are linked with fly-by's, or at least in Chronicles?

The script file has cut= and residentcut= lines. These points to the cutseq.bin or cutseq.pak file. These files contains the cutscene data. I can read the offsets to the data, the object names from the actors and the number of frames. The cutscene triggers in the levels will point to the residentcut lines (cutscene trigger 2 points to residentcut 2,x. x= the index in cutseq.bin)

Its all complicated... I have tried very hard to figure out what we need to do to make them, and I am no closer than when I started.
