Sounds fair

I can't tell you too much though, but lets just say I have had an idea about how to create a tool to make the cut-scenes. I have to say thanks to Brad Casali for this by the way!! But I need to know all there is to know about them first, make sure I haven't missed anything out etc...

That sounds promising. I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to creating cutscenes and FMVs for games (but I am not a programmer). It's not possible to write everything there is to know about this here(that would take several months). I can provide info as required, but only in little amounts at a time because I am working full-time. Would that be useful for you?

That would be great!! Basically what things I need to know are things such as file types, and things like that, but knowing a bit more about how the cut-scenes are usually implemented into games would help too. My only previous experience with cut-scenes was with a game I helped create with two americans (called dreams of ashes, to be released into shops in the US soon!!), but the cut-scenes we used for that where mainly flash animations, and no codec or anything like that was used.

I know that, at least in TRC, the cutscenes are effected by things about Lara. If she has the revolver in her holster, it will be there in it cutsequence. She will still draw her pistols though In TR3 and before, cutscenes seemed to be seperate, and not effected by Lara. Maybe this type would be easier to make. I have not checked TR4 yet, but guess what I am doing next?

I just checked out TR4. Cutscenes are effected by Lara in some cases. If Lara has the revolver or uzis drawn, nothing will show up in her holsters. But in TR4, they don't even in game. The Grenade gun and shotgun will not show up either. However, if the pistols are drwn, they show in the cutscene. Well, I am not sure if I helped, but theres some info.

If you extract a Lara from a TR2-3 cut as an animating then trigger her, she does all of the animations in that scene.
