The moderators and administrators of the TRLE forum would like to appoint a fourth volunteer moderator.

If you would like to be considered please nominate yourself as a candidate (follow the instructions below). We will then announce the candidates and hold a democratic election which will start on 25th September. When the election is started, all Members (and Junior Members) will vote anonymously for who they want to have put forward for consideration by the Admins. See the rules below for further details.

Please think very carefully before applying for this position. It takes a huge amount of time to cope with this unpaid job. You have to be considerate and polite at all times, even when you don't feel like it. Few people appreciate your efforts and many are quick to complain. You do not have any privileges other than the ability to keep the forum tidy and free from trolls. It can sometimes be fun, but it is mostly hard work. Do not apply if you feel that you can not give at least six months of your spare time.

Rules:

1) If you nominate yourself, you are stating that you agree to the following statement: I have read, understood and agree to the rules regarding the nomination of candidates.

2) To be eligible to put yourself forward as a candidate, you must have registered as a Member or Junior Member of the Eidos Interactive Forums before the 31st August 2001.

3) The deadline for candidate entries is: 24th September at 8am (Pacific Time - US & Canada), 4pm (GMT): London.

How will the election work?

Official candidates (those who have complied with the above rules) will be announced on the forum on 25th September.

Members and Junior Members (including official candidates) will vote for their 1st and 2nd choice of new moderator. Your vote will be anonymous and sent to a special email address set up for this election. The only people who will have access to your vote are the current moderators (Wee Bald Man, Bullet ridden monkey, Emma P), and the Admins. To protect your privacy, they will not reveal your vote to anyone.

In the event of a tie (two winners with the same amount of votes), the two winners will have their 2nd choice votes added to their 1st choice total. The overall winner will then be the candidate with the highest number of 1st and 2nd votes combined. For example:

SugarFairy receives 10 x 1st choice votes and 5 x 2nd choice votes.
RumRaisin receives 10 x 1st choice votes and 6 x 2nd choice votes.

Because there is no clear 1st choice winner, the 2nd choice votes are then added to the 1st choice votes:

SugarFairy receives 10 x 1st choice votes and 5 x 2nd choice votes = 15 votes total.
RumRaisin receives 10 x 1st choice votes and 6 x 2nd choice votes = 16 votes total.

RumRaisin would therefore win.

Voters who have given the same UserID for 1st and 2nd choice will only have their 1st choice registered i.e. 2 votes for the same candidate are only worth one 1st choice vote for that candidate.

The winner will be announced on 5th October, and put forward to the Admins who will then make a final decision after discussing the position with the elected candidate. The decision of the Admins is final.

Timetable:

3rd Sep: Announcement made asking for candidates to nominate themselves.

24th Sep: Deadline for candidate entries.

25th Sep: Candidates announced. Voting begins.

2nd Oct: Deadline for votes.

5th Oct: Winner announced. Final decision made by Admins.

It's going that way! This is why we have a 2nd Choice vote - it should solve any problems with low votes.

2) If you've put your name down as a 'possible' fourth mod, can you (Or do you have to) cast a vote too?

Candidates are allowed to vote. Candidates can vote for themselves if they want to. Remember that only the 1st Choice vote will be counted if you vote for the same candidate in both your 1st and 2nd Choices.

Hi Melanie,

The first message in this thread explains how the election will work. Full instructions on how to vote will be given on the 25th September which is the day that voting will officially start. The reason that the full instructions are being withheld until then is to prevent cheating.
