well, i tried to replace a shatterable with a static object, but it seems that it loses its collision......why is this? how would i make a shatterable object? do i must replace another shatterable?------------------ I THANK EVERYONE THAT VOTED FOR ME IN LIL KID'S AWARDS! I think you'll have to replace a shatter object. I think they have animations so they can shatter, but static objects don't.IP: Logged |

No, there are no animations for shattering.Every static object (even a self-made one) is shatterable when placed in a SHATTER X slot. The game just moves the meshes in a random way that is hard-coded. The condition to shatter varies along X. IP: Logged |

DOH! I should have known that. My current research shows that shatter objects don't have animations. Oh well, call me Dopey.jliboy The object you created and the object you replaced, are they the same dimensions? Is the collision completely gone? Can you walk right thru the object? I think I figured out the collision editingin the LE, so that might be a way to fix it. I have to do just a little more experimenting to make sure I can explain it. Maybe tomorrow, if you still have problems.

replace that static object with a shatter which has similar collision.If this does not work, export that static as DXF with strpix, then import those meshes replacing meshes of a shatter which has same collision.  Well, after experimenting, it appears the object editing in the level editor doesn't work the way it was originally designed. All you can do is set the height of the object so Lara can climb on top of it. I did find something interesting about setting that collision information with pushable objects, if anyone is interested.Anyway, doesn't the latest strpix let you edit collision information? Nope, that won't make it shatterable. But...is it shatterable when you play it? If it is, you can used the LE to set the height of the object (the center square, in clicks), and she won't be able to walk thru it. If you don't want her to be able to climb on top, make the height more than 8 clicks. I hope it still shatters after that.

Yes, it does. But, it's anyone's guess as to how to use it. I think the latest WadMerger will re-calculate collision information for you. I haven't got it to work myself, but that may be the objects I'm working with. ------------------ KingSpyder KingSpyder@thefreesite.com

KingSpyder -- nope. Editing the object lets you say how many clicks high it is. Then, if it isn't too high, Lara can climb on top of it. But for pushable objects, it appears to raise the object that many clicks into the air, and makes the area under it blocked so you can't walk there. Of course, you can't push it anymore, but it might be a neat effect to raise something in the air like that. Maybe useless info...IP: Logged |
