I know this is probably a really dense question, but what is the difference between the revised city wad and the newcity wad?(official eidos/core wads that is?) ------------------ I'm not dyslexic, I just type too fast... IP: Logged |

This is what it says in the readme "The NEWCITY WAD is a slight variation of CITY WAD and was created in answer to requests for a WAD that is not so stongly Egyptian in flavor. The differences are as follows: 1) The horizon graphics from the Coastal Ruins have replaced the night sky. 2) A domestic looking dog has replaced the locust swarms. Everything else is the same. Use the city.prj for reverse engineering. If you use the City of the Dead texture map with this WAD, you may want to lighten/brighten it up."

The revised wads are different in that they allow lara to do all her moves. I didn't notice until it was pointed out that in some leves of TRLR you don't do specific moves. Therefore, when you try to do a monkey swing in the old city wad, the animations aren't there, but the ability is. TR doesn't know what to show lara doing when she's supposed to be swinging, so it panicks and lara seems to contort herself into positions that would make a yoga master wince, and flash across the screen. Even though she is moving along, it looks very wierd. The new wads have all moves in them so you can make any sort of scenario with any wad - (movement-wise that is.)
