Topic: iam still having problems renaming objects in the scripts

005473.html is the url if you want to have a look at my question. when u have read that read to this: i did what hteS said but it didn't work. this is what i did. i went in to the english.txt and scrolled down to find the line: Car-Jack. I renamed it to Mini Disc and saved. i went in to the script.txt and scrolled down to the CITY block and renamed the Car-Jack puzzle piece to Mini Disc. (by the way when i was crwating my custom wad i copied the CITY block and pasted it in the script.txt nad did some minor changes like level name and audio music. Thats all) When i changed the Car-Jack puzzle piece to Mini Disc i scrolled down to the pasted block of the city block (my custom wad block) and changed the the Car-Jack to Mini Disc and saved. i thnen used easylife to do the M-DOS thing automatically. but when i tried to run tomb4.exe it crashed???????????? now listen carefully. Mention anything i missed out on. everything. but i think thats how your supposed to do it. but it just ain't working  IP: Logged |

did U add an extra line to the english wad or did U just write over the carjack when you first added it?IP: Logged |

i just overwrited the car-jack. I didn't touch anything, i just went on to the english.txt and scrolled to car-jack and changed it and saved it.what's still wrong????????? IP: Logged |

In the C Drive, what does that gotta do wit it??? well err anyway no it isn't this is where it is: (i created some extra folders and easylife works fine)C:\Program Files\Core Design\trle\Tools\easylife does that help??? please i want a solution IP: Logged |

Easylife does a CD to the right directory. But it probably needs to be on the same drive at least.

If you have changed the strings to Mini Disc do this:
Run "English Script.bat" and copy "Script.dat" and "English.dat" into the TRLE folder. Then run the game.IP: Logged |

well i tried everything in the book and i just cannot do it. In the english.txt i added a new line called mini disc but when i tested the titles were named by letters. (the new game title and load game were named R and S????????)could someone give me a step by step full tutorila on how to change an objects name. please you would be a true good friend IP: Logged |

if you see weird letters and words in the game, you defenitly did something wrong (added or deleted) in English.txt
I suggest you start over with a fresh English.txt (download the backup tool from my site if you like) and ONLY change the Car Jack for now (also try to name it Mini-Disc instead of Mini Disk, maybe that space makes a difference...shouldn't though...) and try to run the game ------------------
