I believe I've checked this out before, and decided it wasn't up to par for a serious commercial game. In order to make it usable by non-programmers, they would have to have alot of stuff already programmed for you, like AI and animation. This will limit your options. If you look at the system requirements, it lists 75MHz CPU! What kind of game do you expect to run on a machine that slow? They also REQUIRE DirectX8, which is KNOWN to cause problems with existing games. It is a great idea, but I don't think they have quite achieved it yet. I do hope they keep working on it, maybe someday...

YOU need only TO BE A GOOD USER OF 3D STUDIO MAX TO CREATE OBJECTS AND ANIMATINGSin TRLE you can only create levels with limited options.......i hate that i will learn 3d studio max more and more and maybe someday i will create my own game (I WILL DESIGN TOMB RAIDER GAME)hehehehehehehehe thank you data for this link ZAHER ABBAS

Thankyou Mr Zaher, I believe there are a lot of very talented people in this forum and they are going to be our future games designers. This is why I posted the link, however, I do agree that the free version is a little limited Mr Aktrekker, but it will certainly help those who wish to make a mark one day, perhaps as head programmer for Core Design.....

As good as the software is, it can only let you design something that is a variation of what somebody has already done. While it is fun to use those programs, I would rather slog my way through C++ to make my very own, and have no limits.IP: Logged |

After a second look at those screenshots, I think I change my mind. It looks like there is a lot of sophistication there!IP: Logged |

Hold ya horses, 3d rad is not that good. The engine is one of the worst and you can't create any half decent games with it. If you want something good go to http://www.3dgamestudio.com ------------------ Visit my site: http://www.tombraiderconnection.8k.com Anubis : Death Pyramid to be released October 21st [This message has been edited by Kiopo (edited 09-29-2001).] IP: Logged |

Mmm, look at it in context. There are over 100,000 owners of 3d rad full version, and only a handful of games on the preview page, doesn't that tell you something?? Plus the really good ones will have taken a lot of people alot of time to do them. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but those games on the preview page are actually programmed in a variant of basic, check out the brain editor of the software, so it would be easier just learning c++, the results would be better. ------------------ Visit my site: http://www.tombraiderconnection.8k.com Anubis : Death Pyramid to be released October 21st IP: Logged |

Thankyou for your opinion Mr Kiopo, however, the reason for posting this is quite clear. I believe that any 3D creation application will help those who are starting out in the 3D design world. Perhaps you are already past that stage, if so congratulations. I would therefore suggest we let those who are only just starting, to gain the benefit of the doubt. ------------------ The great tragedy of science -- the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by an ugly fact IP: Logged |

Hi Data, I didn't mean to put anyone off, I was just trying to make sure people didn't get too dissapointed when (or if perhaps) they realise they won't be able to create the next tomb raider in a week with it!! I agree, lots of people on these forums will move into game development, I hope to be one of them, but I just think perhaps learning a programming language might give them a better start. But, by all means check it out, to each there own as they say...------------------ Visit my site: http://www.tombraiderconnection.8k.com Anubis : Death Pyramid to be released October 21st IP: Logged |

(I will create,I will design,I will...I will.........) but applying is not as saying i hope that KIOPO ZAHER ABBAS

Thats true, you can only really make a good 2d game, I have no argument with that. Until you have a good team programming good 3d games takes a lot of time and most of the time money, even that 3d RAD tool costs a bit. Clearly I'm not the end say on things, but I was just giving my opinion, if you think 3d RAD is the best then don't listen to me, in the end its up to you how you learn to make games.------------------ Visit my site: http://www.tombraiderconnection.8k.com Anubis : Death Pyramid to be released October 21st [This message has been edited by Kiopo (edited 09-29-2001).] IP: Logged |
