Please help me.
I am very confused as to what is seen as acceptable in the TRLE forum.

People become very set in their ways, if for example there is nobody around to check up on them every now and again they can do what they want and say what they want - which is great if you look at it from a democratical point of view. It also be seen as bad cos there is no set standard and authority figure/s.

Now, I am not digging at anyone in particular, nor am I intending to come over as "bitter" etc, cos I am not and I stress that fact, but before there was such a large moderating body in the forum, I feel, and I know a majority of "older" forum members feel this way, there was more of a community. Not so regimented and strict.

The special OT threads in my opinion are useless because most people post so much junk there that when you try and post something considered "OT" by others its impossible to load over a 56k modem, etc.

Then I have noticed when people try to post, it gets closed on them. I understand fully the role moderators play and I appreciate their presence, but I also feel sorry for the poor folk who come to post and can't respond because of a blocked thread.

I personally go "oh no" when i see a closed thread - the worst picture in this forum is that of a padlock.

I remember when moderators only stepped forwards to help and offer support and to socialise (the social aspect is great, i always speak to emma in the chat box and speak to sage on yahoo and to driber, and me and brm have talked in posts on this forum and on trs.com).

But i don't mean to gripe but the over-activity of the mods has become almost erratic. I would have personally emailed each of the TRLE mods with my questions but i think, as this is OUR forum, the most appropriate place IS here!!!

I applied for the moderator position, as did most, so I could make a change, and try to make the existing mods slow down the rate of post closers. But it hasn't worked, and sage my friend, you have almost gone crazy closing threads!! oh well

but i hope you hear what i say, and dont close this thread for "fear" of "revolution" etc, cos opinions need to be heard, and if i may say so again, the only place for that IS the forum itself.

Thanks for all of your time

John (Moose562)

ps. please don't reply slagging me off!!! I only wanted to express a point of view. I would respect all your opinions too you know!!!!

I too feel that sometimes people should reach for a 'cool Laramie' with its 'great tabacco taste', or maybe a Duff beer.... Mmmmm Beer, before reaching for the mouse or worse still the box of padlocks.

Im sure that if forum members find others behaviour unnacceptable they will either 'send the offender to Coventry ' (i.e. cease all communication until the miscreant repents and apologises) or draw the Mods attention to the situation.

One of the vital parts of a community is a degree of freedom of speech and self regulation.

I feel that abusive or threatening posts should be censored (if need be) then closed, but not deleted - to do so removes evidence that could later be supportive in a banning situation.

I also find the OT threads a bit of a pain - they need to be archived off when shorter - or better still why not have an OT forum ??

Freedom of speech is a right we all should hold as a Privilege not a Right..
And some people on this board post things that have offensive content.
Some of you may call it freedom of speech.. Others call it down right hatefulness..
In the end it is up to us the Moderators to see if it is viewable content or something else.
Also simple posts that are OT are just that.. Off Topic.. And we the Mod's try to keep everything On-Topic.
If you have a problem with us e-mail us instead of posting it on the Forums like this which will only cause more OT.
I Hope You Understand, Thank You.
