I have an original Athlon 750 (good luck finding one) with ATI All-in-Wonder 128 (I need my DVDs). Never had a problem with the editor.

I just bought a new MB with Duron 900, but haven't set it up yet.

I don't really have problem with Win98 dying on me anymore. I Have the OS in its own partition. I got all devices installed - ONE AT A TIME! Get the latest drivers for all devices. After that, use Windows Update to get all latest OS fixes. Make sure everything is OK. After a week or 2, I use Drive Image to make an image copy of the OS partition in a stable state. If it starts crashing, I restore the image and I'm off.

Just make sure you keep your data in a different partition so you don't lose it. And don't forget things in My Documents, and browser cookies and favorites.

geforce 2 (and I think even next versions) has a problem with the T&L so when you try to draw doors, many polygons may disappear (I have a geforce 2 now)
